so why is it ok for /tv/ mods to shill for Red letter media?

HitB is a part of RLM

what are you getting at

they are shilling for Disney, not for RLM

and how is that any better?

it's worse in fact

We asked for a mother fucking sticky, they made a fucking sticky.

Walk off the roof of a building please.
>>
>wahhhhh mods people make too many threads on the same topic DO SOMETHING!
>mods make a sticky so there isn't 50 HitB threads
>wahhhhh mods are shilling!

:/
>>
I don't get why people get mad over stickies. They're containment threads to prevent 9001 threads on a certain topic, not the mod's personal seal of approval.
>>
>>387385
>we don't need a sticky for the 90+ Star Wars threads we have on /tv/ 24/7
>we need a sticky to contain the 3 RLM threads we maybe have

the sticky is just swaglord saying : fuck you, I do what I want
>>
>mods let Star Wars shit spill over the entire fucking board and do nothing about it
>mods sticky a positive Star Wars review
Oh boy, I wonder who could be moderating /tv/...
>>
>>387398
Durr conspiracy cop says mods are out to get me! Take ur shit to /x/.
>>
>>387400

what part of that post is a conspiracy?
>>
>>387384
The sticky is meaningless if other threads on that topic are still allowed to be spammed all over the board.

/tv/ is now just one big Star Wars advert pretending to be genuine opinions, with two stickys. One sticky warning people not to spoil the new Star Wars movie (because that might scare away potential ad views), and one sticky telling us all how great the new Star Wars movie is. 95% of the rest of the board is forced Star Wars discussion.

The shills will even rush to defend the spam, saying it's normal for a board to be flooded with one thread a minute about a new movie and shouting down dissent. They even defend it here on /qa/, like they're pleased to only have a single topic discussed on a normally varied board.

The only solution left is for us to organise a site-wide boycott of all products that are spammed by shills on 4chan. Maybe then they'll think twice about using this site as free ad space. I wasn't going to see that movie anyway because I'm not a child, but now I'm shitting on it at every opportunity.
>>
>>387400
If you think the mods aren't supporting the spam then you're either too young to be on this board or a complete moron.

I think it's more likely that you're lying, trying to defend this fraud because you're a part of the back room arrangement to sell shit to people on 4chan.

Which is it? Are you mentally subnormal, or are you a lying shill? Either way, nobody has an ounce of respect for you and you should get off the internet immediately.

>saying it's normal for a board to be flooded with one thread a minute about <insert flavour of the month>

I hate to say this, but it's actually true

Remember Breaking Bad, Lost, Walking Dead, ... .
The same happens with Star Wars - except Star Wars is just bigger

BUT
mods could/should actually prevent this by creating stickies and deleting duplicate threads
>>
>>387483
They should, and they have done so previously, but having one sticky has helped atleast a bit.
>>
>>387486

literally 98% of /tv/ is currently star wars

it hasnt helped at all
>>
>>387490
You should just thank god half of that Star Wars isn't RLM threads
>>
>>387483
Sure, it's predictable that there will be a huge influx of tourists to /tv/ accompanying an aggressive marketing campaign or TV event like the finale of a popular show. And these tourists have no regard for the regular users, and no clue on how to use the catalog. They make a new thread for every little thought that occurs to them. I wonder if there aren't newfags who don't even open threads at all.

Like you said, a handful of stickies and some ruthless moderation could solve this issue overnight. People complain that a sticky would be overcrowded but nobody seems to consider the idea of multiple stickies.

One for discussion of the movie (for those who've seen it), one for hype (spoiler free discussion for those who haven't seen it), one for general Star Wars discussion etc. Maybe 4-5 stickies. Update the "no spoilers" sticky to let people know that Star Wars discussion is to remain in the appropriate sticky and start deleting Star Wars threads as they're made.

The only people who could be against this solution are trolls and marketing shills who want to force the whole board to see masses of Star Wars ads. Stickies can be hidden but a flood of spam can't be hidden without the mods cooperation. This is why I think this problem isn't just a horde of kids excited for their new movie. That problem would quickly be dealt with by the mods as described above. The mods are deliberately allowing commercial spam to flood the board and should be replaced by honest users who care about content quality before any more damage is done.

Every time something like this happens, good, intelligent users leave and shitty users are introduced to the board, leading to the long term drop in quality content that we've all seen over the last couple of years. If this trend continues then in a few years time, /tv/ (and other boards) will be nothing but mindless consumerism, forced memes based on new releases made in an attempt to get their covert marketing campaign to "go viral."
>>
This is the most disgusting thing I've even seen on 4chan.

Advertising is against the rules, yet these fucks get a sticky. Fucking hell.
THREADS ABOUT YOUTUBE REVIEWERS ARE AGAINST THE RULES.
>>
>>387510

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMr3KtYUCcI
>>
>>387510
It's obvious that both /tv/ and /v/ have been overrun by shill mods who just want to advertise their content.
>>
It's probably about time to leave /tv/. It's a shill central for Star wars and Youtube-reviewers.

It's absolutely disgraceful. A thread about a fucking Youtube-review has been stickied.
>>
>>387523

You should leave to a site without shill mods then

My thread got deleted. I merely pointed out the disproportionate amount of SW threads for a general TV and Film board. Mods didn't like that apparently. Gotta keep the SW spam real.
>>
OMG WHY ARE THERE SO MANY THREADS ABOUT THE FILM WITH THE BIGGEST BOX OFFICE OPENING OF ALL TIME?!?!

THEY CANT LEGITIMATELY BE BY DIFFERENT PEOPLE WHO LIKE THE FILM BECAUSE I MYSELF DO NOT LIKE THIS FILM!!!!!
>>
>>388580

better make 40 different threads about the exact same thing instead of even TRYING to ask it in one of the threads already up
>>
>>388641

ideally, users would self-organize into a smaller amount of threads, but clearly they dont.

this is the unfortunate reality of a website where all users have frontpage access. to keep this in check would require a team of janitors/mods refreshing the board and deleting things that are repetitive

this would of course cause a lot of complaints itself.

that combined with mod/janitor staff being unpaid means it's not likely to happen

you just have to wait until the popularity dies down if people are talking too much about things you don't like - or try suggesting they keep it in other threads
>>
>>388669
>ideally, users would self-organize into a smaller amount of threads, but clearly they dont.

so make stickies? it can't be that hard, you made them for RLM and Bane

>mod/janitor staff being unpaid means it's not likely to happen

so why are they even here?
>>
>>388669
>>388580
It has nothing to do with not liking star wars. /tv/ has hit a new low and I thought it would never top baneposting
The board is literally dead and is only used for star wars and memes right now
>>
>>388669
>>388580
What did you think this would help?
>>
>>388826
we don't need a Star Wars board, we just need mods/janitors that actually do their jobs
>>
>>388669
Yet you fucks stickied the RLM thread and deleted the Han is dead spoiler threads like clockwork
>>
rule 11:
"Advertising (all forms) is not welcome"

Yet the mods on /tv/ stickied a thread about a bunch of youtube-reviewers. How is that not advertising? More views means more money if you're a Youtube-reviewer.
>>
>>388669
>this is the unfortunate reality of a website where all users have frontpage access. to keep this in check would require a team of janitors/mods refreshing the board and deleting things that are repetitive

This isn't your normal big event like BrBa or Avatar, this shit is going to be going on forever since there are several different Star Wars products scheduled to be released within a very close timeframe. We need a SW board or at least stickies to keep it under control.

It would be bait if he said "what do you think of her body of work?" or something, but he listed films and so did everyone who responded to the thread. There are threads on almost every other blue board with similar or more borderline-NSFW images that are left alone, but /tv/ mods are fucking idiots and just deleted it without looking at the content of the thread at all.
>>

Just because it's not blatant bait doesn't mean it's not bait. You know as well as I do that given an hour that thread would have simply devolved into JAVposting. For once, the hotpocket was right.
>>
righteous bump of justice
>>
>>391082
Yeah but my special snowflake idea for /film/ will have rules that keep all the things I don't like off it
>>
>>391088
Posting unrelated pictures of sexy girls has been a way to get views on fast boards since 4chan began, if he used a poster of a film or something the thread would have gotten 2 replies max. At least the janitor could wait until it becomes about JAV instead of using his crystal ball and deleting it because it might have off topic posts some time in the future
>>
>>387363
>i don't believe a tv/film web show should be on a board that discusses tv/film
Yeah, but no. I won't act like you don't have a point, but the truth is you're a special breed of retard who thinks youtube channels about the board topic should be arbitrarily banned. Why should anyone fall in line to this way of thinking? It's not only a minority opinion but a stupid one.

Advertising is against the rules and talking about a bunch of guys who are talking about movies is NOT on topic for /tv/.

Fuck off with your shilling.
>>
>>392258
How is simply posting about something advertising? The burden of proof is on you to convey how the two directly relate. Good luck.
>>
>>392260
>hey guys the latest RLM is out!
(link to youtube)

It's advertising. These people make money on this. More views - more money.
>>
>>392268
Again, can you prove it's advertising and not simply making a thread for other RLMfags who clearly exist on that board?

Because by that logic, every time I made a thread for an upcoming movie and linked the trailer I was shilling for a hollywood studio.
>>
>>392275
Stop breaking the rules and stop shilling. Please.

It's pretty much shitposting, no matter the comment. It's like OP posting a twitter screenshot on /v/ or a black man with a white girl on /pol/. The but "muh subject" is a thin excuse no one really believes except as a flimy argument to seem on topic
