There are so many liberal echo-chambers on the internet where you are instantly banned for not parroting the same shit, that /pol/ (and similar forums) are a breath of fresh air for a lot of people.
I want people to say what they want. It's essential for open discussion. But there are fewer and fewer places where there is political conflict. People are too scared to speak their mind, even on the internet. There are only echo-chambers, and if you venture out and start trouble in the wrong neighbourhood you'll be attacked.
/pol/ is one of the few places where there is genuine, no holds barred discussion. The people who complain about /pol/ are really complaining about Stormfront or neo-Nazis, they don't even know what /pol/ is about. /pol/ is more about freedom of speech than anything else, and to dismiss all racist or misogynist opinions as "/pol/" is just naive.

I don't get the hate for /pol/. I've seen threads being derailed on other boards because people have used the word nigger, as in "you best be joking nigger". Phrases that are pretty old and have always been used are getting met with screams of "go back to /pol/" and I just don't get it. When /his/ and /news/ first started people were getting told to go back to /pol/ left and right for really innocuous or relevant posts. Are there people really that paranoid about harmless /pol/ memes like happy merchant that they feel the board should be deleted?
I don't get it. I browse about 6 or 7 boards religiously and several others from time to time and I don't see any /pol/ crossovers.
