"Viral marketers" just means people who like things I don't like. If there's any issue it's the idiots hunting these "marketers" by trying to deny anyone of having any opinion that isn't contrarian and paradoxically approved by the hivemind.

Viral marketers are good at damage control too.
Corporate shilling is a real thing.
But there is absolutely nothing that you can do about it. There is no way to tell if someone is getting paid to post or if they are giving their genuine opinion on something.
It is an unfortunate result of having a free posting. If everyone had to pay $0.25 per post it would cut down on the shilling.

I used to think this too, but in the last year especially I'm starting to become more and more convinced.

On /pol/ they take the form of clickbait merchants. Breitbart and The Daily Mail are among the most prolific at it.

I think he's more in disbelief that anyone would be stupid enough to think paying to post is a good idea.
4chan can quickly generate a lot of click throughs or video views for something trying to make itself look popular. When that's your business model then it pays to spam things even in places like this, whether it be a click bait /news/ story or a /tv/ or /mu/ or /g/ ad campaign.
