How does it feel knowing it was /r9k/ who saved 4chan culture? Their meme renaissance inexplicably got the rest of 4chan out of the ironic era at the sacrifice of destroying their board.
For that, we thank them.
Elaborate.

Unironic era was just nsfw edgy reddit
>>372561
They were martyrs.
How long do you think the post-ironic era will last and what could come after it?
no idea wtf op is tlking about but when is this meme meme going to end
>>372600

Weeaboo era
I would really like a drawhore renaissance where people do solo drawhore threads again. I miss dumbass EFG threads and /quests/ and shit.

>How does it feel knowing it was /r9k/ who saved 4chan culture?
You mean they are the ones who are contributing to killing it by making the site more about shitty memes?
yes because a million images photoshoped to resemble kermit the frog is inovating.
>>372648
>kermit the frog
What?
How to fix 4chan:
- introduce a color for lines starting with "-"
- filter any text starting with ">" not found in the linked post to "-"
>>372664
That is fucking stupid, greentext was not designed as a quote function
>>372664
that sounds ridiculously computationally expensive desu
>>372666
That's actually exactly what it is. Greentext is for quoting, hence using > to quote people and it's a different color just to separate it from the normal text. It comes from the Usenet days when there was no typical quote function and people used > to quote what others had said and reply to it.
>>372666
>greentext was not designed as a quote function
Whatever you say, Satan.
>>372666
>greentext was not designed as a quote function
Back to reddit you go, memespouter
>>372663
I'm being a dick.

The post-ironic era is still different from the unironic era though.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but out of those 3 examples given the only one that is actually meant to just be funny is longcat. The other two are argumentative techniques, and I think that shows just how far 4chan has fallen, when our "memes" and humor is defined by how we fight with each other. It's pretty sad.
4chan is definitely ahead of the curve. Even normies are starting to ironically talk about memes now, I hear people at my work, people who normally spend all day talking about sports and fucking calling things "memetastic" and saying "quality meme friend" to one another. Not only is unironic considered passe, irony and post irony have fallen victim at the same rate. The speed at which 4chan memes are reaching broad mainstream appeal is getting faster.
So go ahead, no matter what you do the broad masses will slurp it up and enjoy it, I've seen people laughing and sharing poo poo pee pee in public for gods sake. It doesn't matter how terrible or forced the meme is, as long as enough people spam it you'll see it on facebook and on stacy's new graphic tee in a month, not to mention all of that meme magic shit that /x/ and /pol/ believe in.
Boards like /r9k/ are the trendsetters, I hope they put their good work to us.
>>372743
...Welcome to 2009?
>>372556
I don't really get the difference between ironic and post-ironic.
>>372765
Think of ironic as pretending to laugh and think your funny, while post-ironic is pretending to pretend you are laughing and thinking your funny
Think of it this way and you'll find you want the retard memesouters to all kill themselves, for not actually being funny
>>372556
/r9k/ was way late to the post-irony party; that was started by bronies five years ago. Post-irony is now over, having been succeeded by whatever baneposting is.
>>372780
>bronies trying to say they accomplished anything ever
Lmao
>>372666
Using > for quoting goes back to the days of Usenet you underage.
>>372556
No it hasn't, /r9k/ucks have done nothing but attract cancer in the past years
