>In the middle of a civil discussion with a single guy amidst a shitposting thread

Post /meta/ feels
Every single time I post in a thread and then the thread dies, garnering no new posts after that.
Here's a hypothetical situation.
Let's say a shitposter makes a thread with an awful OP designed to get people mad and argue with each other. People posting in that thread don't fall for the bait but instead civilly discuss the subject and have fun, paying no heed to the OP.
Should the mods delete that thread when they see it or not?
>>368001
I say no but mods probably don't read the rest of the thread as much as people would like. They probably just read the report, the post containing the report, and act accordingly.
>>368001
They can move it to /trash/ now, I thought the whole point of it was to save quality discussion while keeping off-topic out
>>368005
Said quality discussion may be on-topic even if the OP didn't intend that to happen

>thread gets moved to /trash/
>/trash/ dwellers start shitting up the thread
why is thread creation still allowed on /trash/?

no but someone is probably in the same boat with baneposting
>tfw wake and see 'You have been banned' when trying to post
>wait what
>my IP changed itself overnight to an IP that was permabanned for breaking Rule 1 in 2012
I was scared shitless when it happened because I didn't notice the date. At the time (this was a few months back) I was having really unstable internet which liked to change its IP all the time
