Nobody ever talks about it, but it seems to be implied that most people think the only variables are board topics, mods, and userbase.
This is exactly the sort of thing moot was talking about why every other imageboard spinoff is a failure.
Those few things aren't enough of a big deal for most people to move. If you want your revolution of any kind, even a textboard one then you need something new.
The textboards have been dead for how long? Why do you think hiro simply neglecting to remake them is going to spark a revolution? If that were going to happen it would have happened already yet all the other textboards are still dead.
A revolution would require a revolutionary new website with features that really solve problems we have or introduce functionality that we don't have on other sites.
But nobody ever talks about this, they just keep talking about generic image/text-board clone number 23 and wonder why nothing ever changes
