Baneposting really ruined /tv/. Don't get me wrong, there was plenty of shitposting on /tv/ before, but once Baneposting began dominating half the board people began to view /tv/ as a wild west board where shitposting was allowed and the shit increased exponentially. The only way to save it is to give it merciless mods and janitors. I hate that it's at the point that I'm rooting for that.

Why does it seem as if the /tv/ janitors activiely dislike the board?

/v/ is bad sure with it's gamergate/SJW crap but on /tv/ threads filled with /pol/ shit which has no relation to the board are left open, often dozens of them a day.

If you want to keep bleating 'John Boyega is an ugly nigger being pushed by muh Jewish conspiracy' that's fine but fuck off to /pol/ with it.

>>
>>365928
How does swaglord fit into this? /tv/ isn't his main board, [s4s] is, and even [s4s] has issues with rule breaking roll threads, raid threads, porn dumps and such that stay in the catalog for hours.
The problem with /tv/, it needs much more janitors closely monitoring the board. There needs to be a push for Hiro to add more janitors. How many does the average board have? 3-4? /tv/ needs around 15.
>>

I think if no nudity is posted and it's kept in designated threads that adult film discussion should be permitted. It technically is a genre of film and there's no where else that's acceptable to discuss it on 4chan. /s/ and /gif/ barely even have text posts it's just vag and anus images.

I think you meant /hc/ because /h/ is hentai. But I went searching and honestly didn't know /hc/ existed.

Thanks anon, my mistake for never leaving my home boards (/tv/, /sp/, /o/, /k/, /int/) and just assuming everything I'm interested in should exist on them.
>>
>>366108
Because the board shouldn't be a sea of shitposting and just ignoring these threads would allow them to persist and the board would keep getting worse. I would have no problem with an actual discussion about an actress' acting ability and the films she's been in and stuff, /tv/ has those for actors all the time, but every time there's a thread about an actress it's anons talking about how they want to fuck and pictures of her in a bikini and shit. Go to /hr/ if you want to do that. Ideally /cel/ would be created because those threads should have a place but not a /tv/ causing other threads to get bumped off and fostering a culture that /tv/ is board where rules aren't enforced and shitposting runs wild.
>>
>>366112
Yeah, sorry, /hc/.

>causing other threads to get bumped off
are you drunk or just gay?

right now we have more than 50 threads with 10 replies (or less).
it's a real disgrace when an actress thread kills one of these threads ...

>anons talking about how they want to fuck

you know that's the reason why 99.9% of actresses are attractive?
they are cast because they're attractive - why should it be forbidden to talk about that?
let me guess, you're a fan of RLM and the other YouTube "reviewers"
>>
>>366101
Context man, context. Go post a picture of an actual /tv/ waifu that isn't in a show that jani likes and see how long it stays up.

>>366113
Stop telling people to go to /hr/. Waifu threads push proper /hr/ threads out of the catalog. There is no real reason not to allow SOME FORM of actress threads on /tv/.
>>
>>366123
It is bad when an on topic discussion gets bumped off the board especially when it's bumped off for a shitposting thread that does nothing but make the board a worse place to discuss television and film.

>why should it be forbidden to talk about that?
Well it is against board rules but honestly I don't think it should be forbidden, I think /cel/ should be created for just that kind of discussion.

>let me guess, you're a fan of RLM and the other YouTube "reviewers"
This argument started from a post where I was listing off the cancers of /tv/ one of which was "e-celebs".
>>
>>366132
a thread gets bumped off after (at least) an hour without a reply. that long time without a reply means nobody wants to talk about that topic.

so don't blame actress threads if nobody wants to talk about your favorite black&white movie from the 1920s

Hiro I'd like to present this thread as an exhibit on what's wrong with /tv/ and the culture that is prevalent in it.

>>>/tv/63227487

Someone starts a thread asking how Marisa Tomei won an Oscar for My Cousin Vinny and anon who knows his shit about Oscars explains how it happened and fields questions that other anons have about how certain films won oscars. As the thread goes on though a bunch of anons jump in and complain that there is discussion going on and the thread isn't a Tomei waifu thread.

/tv/ has turned into a board where shitposting rather than discussion is expected. New boards aren't a bad idea for helping /tv/ but new moderators and janitors would be a huge help as well because right now the board is fostering a culture that encourages shitposting and nothing else.

The main problems with /tv/ are the shitty meme threads like the waifu threads. Contain them and you'll be doing quite a lot. Baneposting I think should stay. Its become a tradition now so to speak. It will never die.

Make a Star Wars & Capeshit containment board.

One third to a half of the board is nothing but that, and almost all of those threads contain no actual discussion.
>>
>>373402
this
I have consistently 40-60 threads hidden, 95% of them being star wars and capeshit
>>
Fixing /tv/ is honestly easy.
Make the following boards,
>/sw/
>/film/

Capeshit is a little tough because would discussion of capeshit comics belong on the capeshit board or /co/?

/tvg/ might be another alternative to that., but I think /vg/ proved that a general board just makes discussion scattered on the regular board.

Nobody stopped talking about MGSV on /v/ just because a /mgg/ existed.

Overall, I think moving all Star Wars to a /sw/ board would help contain it and actually be a fun board.

/film/ for movies/film would be a great help, since on /tv/ film discussion is mostly relegated to a single general. /lbg/. That's one general to discuss EVERY film ever made.
>>
The most popular threads on /tv/ outside of general's are porn threads that get to 300+ posts pretty quick before they get canned. The porn threads also seem to have the most cooperation between users and the least shitposting

maybe there needs to be a nsfw version of /tv/ where baneposting is allowed too. /s4s/ version of /tv/.

we don't need an extra board for the flavor of the month movie/franchise/show/meme

nobody will be talking about Star Wars in late January/early February

if anything we need mods/janitors that do their job.
they're good at deleting everything about a female, but that's it.
thb half of the Star Wars threads are just garbage (hell, half of /tv/ is actually shit) and need to be deleted.
>>
>/film/
>/cel/
>/im/ (for internet media like webseries, podcasts, internet celebrity discussion, etc.)

These would help /tv/.
>>
>>375431
this is actually a really great idea.
>>
Splitting the board is treatment not cure.
>>
>>375449

Half of the board will shit on you if you start a thread about Tarantino, who's movies are just about the best things being made for pure entertainment right now.

The other half of the board is spamming Star Wars and Capeshit, nonstop, which is pretty much the lowest form of pure entertainment.

Make a containment board for Star Wars and capeshit. Everybody knows what those are (there's zero ambiguity) so it would be effortless to move them off of /tv/.
>>
>>375463

They are bait, but the people making them don't realize that they've pretty much run off everyone they could bait at this point, and /tv/ has almost turned into an /s4s/ tier circle jerk wasteland.

########################################################################################

How to fix /tv/

>stop blaming actresses for everything
>delete blatant and 'hidden' bait/meme threads
>delete duplicate threads with the same content

we don't need 5 threads of "they cast a black guy in Star Wars" or 20 "damn, I hate this YouTube reviewer so much, he sucks and so on - but don't forget to watch his newest video and subscribe his channel"

we even had this rule a while ago
>>
Honestly, /tv/ would be decent if the fucking mods did their job. I see countless porn and celeb-kiddie threads and I wouldn't be surprised if the mods are fanatically interacting in them cause otherwise where the fuck are they.

I wouldn't mind a /film/ but honestly that wouldn't save /tv/. If anything we'll get an even shittier /tv/ and /film/ would be full of marvel and star wars spam and then the fact that we'd need more mods which have already shown to be unreliable.

I don't use /tv/ but I see how bad things are for you. This is out of control.

A reminder: the mod chatlogs confirm that individual mods have to be approved to be able to moderate a board. So mods aren't global, they just have a number of approved boards they control.

Here on /qa/, people were requesting a sticky on /tv/ before Halloween in a thread Swaglord was posting in. A sticky was then made, and made wrong.

This confirms that Swaglord, the /s4s/ attention whoring mod, is one of /tv/'s mods. All of your problems are a result of him and others like him shitting on your board for "keks".
