Why do I always see stupid /v/ bans on the /bans page? These
Images are sometimes not shown due to bandwidth/network limitations. Refreshing the page usually helps.

Why do I always see stupid /v/ bans on the /bans page?

These are worth a warning at the very MOST.
>>
>implying
/v/ needs more bans and it needs longer bans. They have too many shitposters as a board and the fact that /v/ is constantly filling up the bans page while being one of the worst boards proves that fact.

By the way, /v/ does also get a great deal of warnings.
>>
>>358889
The truly dedicated shitposters will just reset their router. Bans don't solve any problems, the board needs more moderation to compensate for its higher traffic.
>>
>>358889
>the fact that /v/ is constantly filling up the bans page while being one of the worst boards proves that fact.

If its filling up with worthless inoffensive bans then that means nothing.
>>
Often times you're just seeing one in a series of drive by shirposts you know. It may not be big alone but the shirt adds up
>>
>>358895
>Bans don't solve problems
They're a temporary preventative measure for repeat problems. They're a part of moderation, which I agree /v/ needs even more of.

>>358896
>inoffensive bans
Then you don't lurk /v/ enough if you think most of these bans are unwarranted.
>>
>>358900
I basically live on /v/.
The people who shouldve been banned are the people who wasted valuable report queue slots reporting those. I shouldve saved more shots, thats only a tiny fraction.
>>
>>358900
>They're a temporary preventative measure for repeat problems
The fact is that a ban is still a very temporary measure against these shitposters. The difference between a 3-day ban and a 3-month ban is meaningless to them since it takes a uniform amount of time to change their IP regardless of how long their ban is.

And when the moderators/janitors do decide to actually do their job, they sometimes ban posts that are obviously sarcasm or jokes.
>>
>>358895
>The truly dedicated shitposters will just reset their router.
It helps reduce the casual shitposters though. Also not everyone can be bothered to reset their router and some people have a static IP as well. And one less shitposter around is always a good thing.

Just for you, I opened up the ban list and looked at it, then made a stitched screencap. Look at all this. Are you honestly going to tell me most of this was unwarranted? The least shitty post in this image is the fucking frogposter, for crying out loud.
>>
>>358948
Yes. That's incredibly tame for what used to go on in those parts.

But I keep forgetting my time has long since passed.
>>
>>358948
Nobody said ALL of it was unwarranted.

This is a shock .webm?

>spoilers, off topic
Most of these are justified
>>
>>358977
I was too lazy to search for the hash and assumed it was something like that (which is why I put it in parentheses with a question mark, wasn't sure), I've run into a few. That's another unwarranted ban, then.

holy fuck that's an adorable bunny

>>358956
/v/'s problem right now is a high quantity of shitty posts, not the degree of the shitpost. Look at this nonsense:
https://boards.fireden.net/v/search/image/XoqJn8GdsiEZXKy8HwlhhA/
We can't get rid of posts like these, even though they aren't late-night gore spam, they're constant on the board. I'd say they're more annoying at this point, shockposting is dull for me.
You're not the only oldfag still here either.
>>
>>358977

It is shocking. It's too cute that it could cause an accident if you see it and aren't prepared for it.
>>
>>358986
The shitposting is getting out of control now. And it all really got worse when GamerGate came around and so many oldfags bailed.

>>358904
they do such a shit job though. We tried asking Hiro on here for better moderation before, and that was a month ago. Now we know its not working at all. We need a split to happen soon. A Western Gaming board and an Eastern Gaming board. Because most of the shit posting is coming from the westakeks and not the weeaboos

Regarding illegit bans on /v/. I failed to find a rule on this but are you allowed to link to porn in blue even if you warn and have nothing nsfw on the post itself? There is someone running rampant in the drawthreads deleting each and every link OR CROSSLINK to lewd deliveries to requests.

This needs to stop. A rule must be made to disallow it or the banning drawfags must end.
>>
>>359030
4chan has a shittons of unwritten rules, which is why you are meant to lurk moar. Technically speaking, linking to pron externally, with the exception of sad panda threads, can be considered porn dumping. The NSFW rules exist only to prevent pron dumps, so if the thread only purpose is to link to external or crosslinks requests that are lewd, you could technically considered a pron dump. If its just random removing when its not a lewd thread, then yea, the mods are being retarded

/v/edditors aren't the only one who do mental gymnastics to do what they want, the mods do as well
>>
>>359057
The thing is it's been done for years in the drawthread and there's a specific thread in /i/ for dumping the lewd, as well as a booru. External links have been done always. The drawthread isn't a porn thread but some deliveries are of the lewd sort.

The people getting banned have been there for years. It's the mods that need to lurk more.
>>
If anything /v/ needs to stop handing out so many warnings and just ban.
>>
>>358948
Is that the actual ending of Fallout 4?
>>
>>358977
Actually I can understand that one, because he's using the bunny as a masturbation aid.
>>
>>359567
>It's the mods that need to lurk more.
Unfortunately, they are still considered enforcing the rules, just like how /v/'s twitter screencaps and youtube fagviewers are considered 'video game culture'

Thank based mod for ridding that shit

most of em will only reset a few times, that shit gets exhausting. and then there are kiddos that can't get to the router at school or the router is in their parent's room.
