Suggestion: If you have a problem with your board's moderation, there should be real-time reporting and accountability for janitors and mods either being absent or inconsistent.

Pic related.
>>
Mods and janitors of specific boards that leave shitty threads up for more than an hour should receive a punishment.
>>
>>354559

Like what exactly? You can't dock their pay, the only meaningful punishment you can give to a janitor is firing them, and that will just make the problem worse since there will be even less people to monitor the board.
>>
that board should really be nuked
>>
>>354561
If they aren't willing to do their "job" properly then they should be fired. That is, only if they let it happen too frequently, not just a few times.
>>
>>354564

Janitors are not held to a schedule though. They don't work shifts and are not obliged to watch a board for x-amount of hours.

And as I said before, if you fire a janitor for not being active enough, the problem will only become worse because there will be even less people watching the board.

If you're fired from, 4chan you should receive a perma-ban
>>
>>354561
Just replace them. It's not like there's a shortage of guys who browse 4chan all day and know the ins and outs.
>>
>>354571
>if you fire a janitor for not being active enough, the problem will only become worse because there will be even less people watching the board

He will be pressured into putting more attention to the board that he moderates if there's a threat of being fired for not being active enough.
>>
>>354571
According to the Janitor application, they are expected to be active and there was a field to input the average times you'd be available to janitor.
>>
>>354584

Or maybe they'll just decide to quit because they don't want to commit more of their time to such a thankless task for no compensation.

If a person can only watch a board for two hours every day, do you really think it would be better to get rid of such a person just because they can't be around more?
>>
>>354591
Fuck 'em. There's a dozen more that will apply.

The next batch will be watched more closely.
>>
>>354602

Do you really think it's that easy?

It's not like everyone who puts in an app is going to be qualified.
>>
>>354608
>Do you really think it's that easy?

Yeah. Where did you get the idea that it's hard?

4chan has a user base of millions.
>>
>>354608
The fact is that our current mods are inefficient and corrupt. Keeping them around will only be a detriment for us, and it would be better to have no mod then a corrupt, lazy one.
>>
>>354618

>Where did you get the idea that it's hard?

Because if it were as easy as you claim there wouldn't be an issue?

>4chan has a user base of millions.

And how many of those do you think are putting in apps? This past drive only got around 2000 total per what hiro said, only a fraction of those are going to be for your board and only of fraction of that fraction are going to be good enough to be selected.

>>354622

In what way is it better to have no moderation than some moderation?
>>
>>354626

You're basing this on your experiences with Chris, who hated every board that wasn't /a/, /jp/ or /ck/. He was a shit manager who didn't know how to deal with people.

>2000 total per what hiro said

That's more than enough to find competent volunteers. If you're pro-shitposting just say so.
>>
>>354639
>Chris
Oh, you knew him personally?
>>
>>354640
Why don't you try responding to what I said.
>>
>>354639

>He was a shit manager who didn't know how to deal with people.

What makes you think hiro will be different in that regard? Especially when there will be a language barrier that didn't exist under moot.

>some moderation done by corrupt mods
>they ban what they don't like
>sometimes do their job and respond to reports but only bother banning meme posts and deleting the entire thread without a second glance
>most of the time, they won't do anything (especially /pol/)

The only mods we need are spambots and the FBI. Moderators on a nearly unregulated image board only serve to get rid of porn and deleting off topic threads/posts (not necessarily porn) and banning the offender. It doesn't require a day's Google search to be educated in a board's culture; to then know the difference between off topic and on topic posts.

I've been banned a total of 56 times over the past year, 47 of those times were legitimate not breaking the rule and contributed to a discussion. When we add moderation in 4chan, we get fag mods who impose their sense of justice by deleting posts which contribute towards a thread, when really their position is just a glorified garbage man.
>>
>>354651

I mean, it sounds like you just have a problem with how moderation is handled on the site in general. Your suggestion of mods only deleting spam and illegal content is never gonna be accepted here, that's how other unmentionable chans operate. You'd be better of going to those if that's what you're after.
>>
>>354644
I'm already seeing improvements. /tv/ is starting to ban for global 3, which hasn't happened in years. /his/ was a bold move which is paying off after the required babysitting.

If you still think BANE is hilarious, I guess that spells doom for you.

And wasn't it that only like 10% of it actually post? The amount of people who apply is probably less than 5% of that and the people who are actually qualiflied is probably less than 2% of that and the amount of people active in that is probably even less. 4chan has large numbers, but the actual quality of its users is to be desired

Don't be retarded. Moot didn't like the other boards mostly because of what they become and last I recalled he knew how to do his job quite well. It's just that, with time, he stopped giving a fuck because of what the site became
>>
>>354651
Sounds like you're just a shitposter
>>
>>355049
It took him too long to quit though. Why did he wait so damn long?
>>

>/tv/ is the new /sp/
Unsurprising really if you've been on /tv/ since 2013.
