Splitting /v/ has nothing to do with "fixing /v/."
/v/ is and will always be a lost cause. Nothing you can do can fix it. /v/ will always find a way to shitpost.
The point of making /vg/, /vr/, and /vp/ was not to "fix" /v/, it was to create a good board with a good community, free from the wasteland of shitposting that will always be /v/.
The point of a regional split (turning /v/ into western video games and making /vj/ for japanese games) is not to lessen video games, its to remove the shit (see: western games) from the good (see: japanese games).

The only thing this would accomplish is kill off discussion of indie games. Japanese indie games like Elona and Recettear would just get their threads flooded with dumb fetishism, while western indies would just get shitposted by autistic neckbeards.
A better idea would be /vi/-Indie and Doujin games and /va/-Published bullshit.
The only wrinkle would be where to put crowdfunded games.
