I think it's less the posters themselves, and moreso that the internet isn't significantly segregated from real life anymore hence real life shit being strewed everywhere.
/b/ used to be this weird almost unreal fantastical place where, despite the porn and gore there was plenty of truly random stuff like life hack threads (before they became only a bunch of reposted infrographics over and over). Now /b/ is just facebook without accounts, because everyone is online 100% of the time every day and everything about their real lives are online too.
This'll probably sound fucking retarded, but the internet before about 2007 was almost like an entirely different place you went to to play shitty flash games and talk to people with retarded screen names on a forum half way around the world.

To clarify: The anon in OP's pic was projecting his personal life into the definition of normalfag. 4channers have always talked about their social life. Hell look up itoko otoko, it's one of 4chan's earliest stories where /b/ helped a /b/tard score with his cousin.
What the old definition of normalfag actually refers to is the guys that get upset when you made a black comedy joke or replied with a purposely retarded yet humorous non sequitur on /b/. Normalfags simply don't understand 4chan's, and the Internet in general, humour and memes.
That is a moot point now. Normalfags have swarmed the Internet en masse in the new 10s and burned the place to the ground, specially when it come to humour.
