The success and future of 4chan relies upon it maintaining a large user base, preferably one that grows over time. Why you ask?

1. The site needs a lot of traffic and users to make ad revenue and have a pool of users to buy passes so 4chan makes enough revenue to cover costs and remain in operation.
2. New users bring fresh blood and ideas. They make new content and memes and make us laugh and think. They'll also bring in more new users themselves and overall add spice to 4chan. Without them we stagnate.

Now that we established we need to continue attracting new users how do we do so? I propose the following:

1. Each board should have a general guide stickied. This should include the board rules, history, topics of discussion, and current memes/phrases/culture so people can quickly "fit in."
2. Cleaning up our image. Safe for work boards should be truly safe for work - no porn or otherwise offensive/suggestive images and no cursing/slurs on those boards. Crack down on behavior and harassment that will hurt 4chan's image further in the media. We don't need another gamergate or fappening or jessi slaughter.
3. Get the word out. Advertise on other sites. Do interviews. Tell your friends to check out 4chan, etc.

>b..but I hate newfriends!

Look, I've been here since 2006. You were new once and so was I. I'd like to think I've positively contributed to 4chan over the years and I'm sure the new users will be a benefit to the site.

I'd appreciate yall's thoughts on this.

I'm fine with it. Just letting newfags storm in with no way to acclimatize and just shitposting wildly hasn't worked. Might as well try something new to teach them some manners.

Anyway, I've had a 4chan pass since they were first introduced and would also like a 4chan pass only board as well.

High quality bait.

The memespouters here would shit a brick if this was done.

The hurr durr sekret club mentality is still prevalent.

Good idea, but don't include the memes and culture. Otherwise, what is there to pick up on once you are there? Also, new users should always be encouraged to lurk moar. I'm in favour of a rules sticky, and maybe the board history, but everything else you suggested is dumb.

Gamergate wasn't 4chan, the Fappening was only on 4chan because of 4chan's reputation, and Jessi Slaughter barely gets mentioned. She's like the an hero kid.

There will always be people coming to 4chan, because it's so accessible and posting is so easy. Doing interviews is a good idea, but moot has always done interviews, and Hiro probably would too if he spoke English.

The way 4chan operates now is fine. Even if it's not profitable, it's clearly profitable enough because it's still in existence.

Why would you want this shithole of a website to succeed? let it die when most of us are shitposting 20 years from now in our 40-50s with no new blood, like SA.

And this site would flourish
