On one hand /d/ was infested with tons of tumblrites who where capping threads with blog posts about identity politics and attracting reactionaries and trolls who then proceeded to flame each other rather than post relevant content and thence the western purge that has largely stopped. On the other hand despite all the off topic blog posts from a pure content perspective which is how you should judge a port board /d/ was a much healthier board.
I'm at a torn as to if the split was a good or bad thing, it's more like the /d/ I used to know but despite the drama I had come to really enjoy certain things about the new /d/ and feel something has been lost.

The entire problem with this situation is that it proves the mods had a fundamental misunderstanding of what /d/ was. /d/ was a fetish board, not a porn dump board. It was a place for those with niche fetishes to talk about fetishes and create and share OC in addition to dumping porn.
There was a weak effort every now and then to delete any kind of erotic literature, but overall /d/ was left alone.
Now? /d/ is a /d/ead porn dump board for dumping the same old pictures.
This is a problem of mods not giving a shit about the community of their board and imposing their own ideas of what the board should be on it. That's a bad thing for the whole site.
