We are now roughly six weeks into Hiroyuki's reign. Give our new admin a grade on his performance so far, anons. Letter grades or X/10, whatever.
I give him an 8/10.
6/10
just barely enough of a connection to the "community" to not completely fuck everything up
on the plus side, he's not moot
7/10 desu
i wont ever use /his/ but i think it's pretty cool
/aco/ and /trash/ i dont give a shit about and i kinda feel like theyre a waste
wordfilters give me a giggle
good interactions

8/10. /his/ is a good board, /trash/ and /aco/ less so, but his interactions are solid.
8/10
10/10 when textboards arrive.
Now I'm curious, how would you all grade moot's performance over his 11 years?
>>331438
He gets an A for effort.
>>331438
He gets F for Faggot
6.5/10
he hasn't fixed /jp/ so 1/10
8/10, he's been okay and hasn't displayed any of moot's psychological baggage. It's also not clear if he's sorta new or just pretending so as to fuck with us.
>>331402
8.5/10
-0.5 for not addressing all issues that have existed years before moot left (Quests). He did address the majority of them.
-1 for not disciplining the staff, which resulted in the disaster that was /aco/, that /a/ mod panicking and /trash/'s rules potentially enabling modfaggotry by moving ultra shitty but technically on topic threads like kpg without prior warning/explanation
3/10
He still has not fixed the major problems on here, such as /tv/ and /v/ being destroyed by shitposting. When people were begging him for weeks to do something about it, and then he goes ahead and just makes /trash/
10/10
>>331500
What's there to fix?
Overall: 6\10
Compared to moot: 11/10
8/10
Better than Moot so far but it's too early to know for sure
>>331583
How do you stop people from shit posting? Banning doesn't work
>>331438
2003-2006
b for being fun and diligent, not an a for the circlejerk
2006-2012
c for at least trying to keep it all together when /b/ was at it's most self-destructive, it would have been b if it weren't because from 2009 until 2012 he was practically a ghost
2012-2015
f for not giving a single fuck about the site. 2012 was supposed to be his glorious comeback but we later learned he just set it all up so the staff made all but the hardest decisions. And when it came to making them he fucked up at every single opportunity yet he refused to leave. It took him 3 years to realize he simply stopped caring about his hobby.
>>331583
>implying fixing /v/ is possible
That's like telling /b/ to cut it out with the trap threads.
6/10
He's funny and there haven't been any real disasters so far, but he's extremely out of touch.
>>331868
He is a newfag after all
Though I still suspect that part of his confused image is an act to make us act nicer to him
>>331879
>>331868
He acts autismo so that neckbeards have someone to condescend to and then secretly laughs as he datamines the shit out of them
>>331402
10/10 i like his effort and with time he'll do good
You people are just being rude to him atleast we are hetting somewhere after moot abandoned us.Also hes kinda cute desu
7/10
+ hilarious word filter. Reminds me of the over 9000 filter back in the day
+ creates new boards, encouraging traffic
+ naive facade with a subtle understanding of imageboard culture, has a good idea of how to learn the ropes of running 4chan
- Splitting boards often kills one to containment status
- Already getting too wrapped up in mod/moderation drama, can see him getting burnt out like Moot
- Avoids the elephant in the room of loli, anime, and "funposting" having a contentious place in sitewide culture
>>332143
What is the new word filter?
>>332170
Acronyms/slang for:

Now:

7/10, much better than expected and seems like a cool guy, kinda nice actually having a mod who listens to us.
I wish he'd fire the current mod team on /tv/ and /v/ though.
>>332143
>Already getting too wrapped up in mod/moderation drama
But that was him and the entirety of /a/ against one newfag mod, and he gained a lot of cred from the /a/nons that day.
>Avoids the elephant in the room of loli, anime, and "funposting" having a contentious place in sitewide culture
>anime
This is one of those things that won't change and carry over from moot's era. 4chan was originally made to discuss anime etc etc.
>>332170
>>332175
Also SJW briefly became "super spooky skeleton" on Halloween. I wish he would come up with a filter for "weeb".
>>332238
>a filter for "weeb".
weeb would be jap, weeaboo would be japanese
It's hard to come up with something for it.
4/10 from a practical standpoint.
10/10 fun value.
>>331901
The data mining thing is always going to haunt him and Hiro knows it, specially now that people know about it. However didn't he try to defend himself from that data mining accusation? I remember he posted about it when he did his Q & A

>>331402
SSS-/Q
>>331402
Has done an alright job of interacting with the community and scores some points for the wordfilters. Hasn't burnt the site down yet, so I'll give him credit for that much so far.
Has made questionable decisions in terms of board creation. I still don't think /aco/, /trash/ and /his/ needed to be made, especially /trash/, but I'll hold off judgement for now. If his go-to approach to issues is to make a separate board every time, we're going to have a lot of fucking issues in the future.
5/10
I still think the coming year will tell us if he'll be as good as we hope he will, and that it's a bit early to really give a good grade yet.
>>332323
/trash/ is just for fun, there is no harm at all creating it. Doesn't matter if the board is dead or is filled with nothing but pictures of shit.
/his/ has been asked for for ages but seems really pointless and will be as dead as /po/ in another month or two.
/aco/ is so-so. I don't go on /h/, /d/, or /aco/, so I can't judge the affect it has had.
>>332332
>/po/
Why the fuck does this even exist
>>332356
moot liked it
It's not something we should remove either way. I think it's cute. It has been there since forever.
>>332332
I go on /d/ every so often. People there would bitch somewhat frequently about shitty western art being posted, which I assume is a large part of the reason why /aco/ was created.
Personally, I thought it was as easy as ignoring the pictures you didn't like in the thread, but I suppose some moderators thought otherwise, because they went on a deletion/banning spree once /aco/ was created and nuked pretty much every western pic on /d/.
Now it seems as if /d/ and /aco/ have had some splitting of their userbases, making /d/ slower than it already was, and /aco/ the designated dumping grounds for art that could fit into a somewhat ill-defined niche.
/trash/ is just another shitposting board in my opinion, and we have /b/, /s4s/ and /r9k/ for that shit already. It doesn't do anything that other boards don't do already, so it's just pointless as a result.
I can't say much about /his/, but I can see it being as dead as /po/ soon as well.
>>332356
/po/ is fun, anon. You do know what fun is, right?
>>332368
>because they went on a deletion/banning spree once /aco/ was created
I heard about that. Terrible business. I can see how /aco/ would be a bad thing to /h/ or /d/ frequenters. Considering I don't frequent the boards I feel like I have no actual say over it either way.
What /trash/ is currently:
Another shitposting board like /s4s/
What /trash/ should be:
A place where off topic threads get rerouted and can continue discussion but not appear on the original board.
It shouldn't really let people post their own threads there, just post IN threads that were moved there.
>>332238
Yeah but the shit on /a/ was pretty cut and dry (inconsistent thread deletion). I'm glad anon have been pretty understanding of Hiro's admin style from what I know, I hope the shitposters don't meme him into insanity any time soon.
>>332269
http://desustorage.org/qa/thread/183913/#191470
>>Do I have to worry about my data being sold to advertisers?
>What data do we have here?
Literally on wikipedia. He talks a little more about it throughout the thread.
>>332378
I get that no thread creation on /trash/ would reduce shitposting but it could also kill the board.
>>332238
I think he means people trolling others and generally being massive dicks while posting anime.
It's the main cause of anti-anime sentiment on 4chan, if not the only cause.
>>332332
/his/ as far as the niche board go is very active.
It will lose some posters as soon as the /int/ banter is killed.
>>332238
>I wish he would come up with a filter for "weeb".
"tomodachi", but I guess it's harder to filter because of many derivatives of "weeb".
7/10 pretty good.
Listens to the community
Has sense of humour
Sorted shit out on /a/ (do something about /v/, please. Anything. Literally, anything. Split it. Add a sticky. Nuke the board. Just do something)
>>332829
>do something about /v/, please. Anything. Literally, anything. Split it.
Because that has worked in the past, right?
8/10
+ actually seems to listen to the users as opposed to mods
+ gave use /his/ when people wanted it
+ is moe
+ wordfilters are hilarious
+ fixed the debacle on /a/
- talking to him is a frustrating game of cat and mouse
- little understanding of how the site works
- hasn't fixed /v/ (I used to go there but the last couple of years its become utterly insufferable)
Too much water/10

mods' idea
>+ actually seems to listen to the users as opposed to mods
the site is practically run by the mods at this point
>>332831
/vr/ is pretty fun place. /jv/ or /v/ without western shit would be alright as well.
>>332831
Just give it better moderation. The shitposting is getting so bad over there now
he's alright/10
+ adds three new useful boards within the first two months
+ recommending documentaries and other community interactions

+ confirmed for bringing back text boards
+ sense of humor

- engrish
- doesn't know board culture
- hasn't confirmed for fixing any major board problems
8.5/10
>>333033
he's not bringing back text boards though
>>333104
I thought he said he was working on it
7/10
+/a/ feels more fun to browse with him
+Dobson shit is now out of /d/ and on /aco/
+/trash/ is perfect for telling people to fuck off
-/his/
-moderation on /his/
-moderation on /aco/
-/v/ isn't dead yet
>>333322
/v/ seriously needs a fix badly. It's getting insane that he's not addressing it like he should
>>332831
/v/ could have been at a much better state now if moot didn't completely botch everything in 2011 when he created /v/ and thus decided that "/v/ culture" was valid and should not be deleted. The shitposters were getting pushed out by the mods and /v/ users themselves then moot had to be a moron and legitimized it.
>>333338
>when he created /v/
/vg/ I mean. When he created /vg/.
>>333338
During that time moot just didn't care anymore. He should have sold the site then and there and yet he stubbornly held onto it
>>333355
>He should have sold the site
And have it gagged by censorship and political correctness by its new owners? I don't think so. If there's one thing moot did right, it's keeping this place free. For better or for worse
>>331612
>muh narrative
Where are the sources for all these "hardest decisions"?
>>333787
Fore!
>>333338
/vg/ was created in February 2012.
>>333332
Hiro is too fucking lazy to do something as simple as to allow Webms with sound, how do you think he is ready to clean /v/?
>>333787
- GG, which was handled like shit by the mods, with pisspoor communication, and when moot shut it down he, for no fucking reason and ignoring the entire fucking staff IRC telling him ot was stupid, forbade the mods from modposting.
- Forcing all staff to reveal their IRL identities just to discourage inside leaks
- Adding and removing forced anonymous from /b/ several times with no rhyme or reason (this happened for longer anyone can remember)
- Dealing with a rogue /int/ janitor that had friends in the staff (He was so paranoid of racism he literally erased Israelites from the board just so people wouldn't insult them). He wasn't fired until the entire fucking board rose up in rebellion (2013 or 2012, I can't remember)
- Ignored all the complaints about Redwood being one of the site's worst mods despite all the actual evidence, he even personally defended him.
- Believing /his/ to be /pol/ with dates and never understanding racism on 4chan was not because of /pol/
- Thinking in ideals and what the site "should" be, by example when they added webms he decided to kill all sound in them because felt went against the "spirit" of imageboards.
The source for the first 2 is in the staff IRC leaks, and he has outright stated in his last Q&A that since 2012 he handled almost all administration duties to the staff. The rest is just common site knowledge.
I love the guy, but there's no denying he stopped caring about 4chan by his 20s. He just wasn't ready to accept it until it hit him in the face with gamergate and the february leaks
>>331402
8/10.
he's a newfag and seems almost unrepentant
but shit's not bad, /his/ is cool, I like it
>>331583
actually fixing /v/ is a hard problem due to years of neglect
dunno if I'd trust hiro with doing something about it that would make a positive difference this early in the game
you might be able to make another board that's pretty decent though, ala /vr/ (a board I visit 90% because I actually want to talk about games, being limited to old stuff is fine)
but that actually peels quality posters away from /v/, so it's not a good solution (and to merge such a board back into /v/ would be an extremely bad attempt to fix things)
>>332368
trash is /fur/ with a different name
also, people can shitpost at the furries
everyone wins
>>331589
not him, but it's pretty much [s4s]: 2hu edition (also a handful of general threads where there's actual discussion)
I like [s4s], but /jp/ deserves better.
