What age did you grow out of atheism?
>>
I was atheist since 9 years old and then grew up at 15. Still don't technically belong to any particular religion, but I recognize the truth and benefit to each one. (besides kikes and mudslimes). I basically have this mega-theory that ties all the religions together in every way. It's pretty amazing actually, might write a book someday.
Nearly every religion is right in it's own way, but lacking perspective in another way.
>>
>>81414791
By the way, if I had to name the "best" one, as in the one that gets the most stuff right in the most concise ways, it's a tie between Buddhism/Hinduism.

If I had more knowledge on the "religion" of the Atlanteans or even Sumerians, I would pick them, though.

I was a devour Catholic -> Atheist -> -> Buddhist. Then I found Art and realized that this shit is all subjective and arbitrary, got nihilistic for a bit. That was boring so I doubled down and became a weird amalgamation of religions and just follow my heart.

My heart is telling me to start a _____ war.
>>
>>81414791

Religion was useful as a tool to organize society during darker times, today it serves as a philosophical guideline, but please don't tell me you actually believe in the ridiculous mystical deities of any religion.

Why would one grow out of rational skepticism?
>>
I never will "grow out of atheism". I just don't believe in a God. There is no convincing proof.

Though I do think some religions are inherently better than others.
>>
>>81414298

never got into religion

my parents did the right thing and let me decide for myself; they showed me a plethora of religions. Both new and old, extinct and still going on

At one point i realized that there was zero benefit to me if i joined one religion over another, but a WHOLE LOT of cons

so i abandoned the search

It's not age, it's intelligence. Kids can't see the evidence of God because of lower IQ's, but that doesn't always change with age.
And some never get real intelligence. Penn Gillette, for one. They just aren't capable of free thinking.
It's no coincidence that most leftists are atheists.

It's a constant journey for me.

I didn't believe at all for a while, but then weird coincidences and chance events began happening to me as I delved into occult stuff. This in itself has led me to believe in more than "logic" and "science" but I don't think I believe fully in God yet. There's hints of Him in my life but I can't say that's him for certain. Of course I believe in the essence of the universe kinda God but I wonder how often that could actually interact with me. One day I'll figure it out.

Call it what you will, I'm enjoying the heck out of my unorthodox search for truth.

There are no real atheists just like there's no real Christians.

Athiests can't prove there isn't a higher power and develop a god-complex. Jesus never wrote scripture so other Jews just kept reading the bible and became Catholic.

You're either Agnostic or a radical.

I lost my faith for a few years when I was a teen but regained it after a literal miracle happened to me. I had a cyst in my head that was pushing up against my cerebellum. Because of this I was miserable I had tremors, pain in my head, and migraines everyday. Suddenly the cyst didn't show up in my bi yearly mri, the doctors did a spinal injection with iodine to see if the area of where the cyst was would light up or not. Anyway they found out it light up meaning no more cyst. My mother told me she prayed every day for me and that this was a miracle. At first I didn't believe but after a while I regained my faith.

God is specifically asked, many times, why He doesn't just make everyone believe in Him and be done with it.
The key point of the Bible is Free Will. Despite anything you ever heard a self-described holy man as saying, God doesn't lay any obligations on you. You can believe or not as you see fit.
God will probably never solve your problems, and a typical human would never want Him to. But it's nice to have a friend you can talk things through with.

Supernatural is a subset of natural.
Natural means it develop without influence. By definition, anything that exists is natural.
The only thing that could be 'supernatural' would be something left over from a previous universe, but of course that can't exist.
'Supernatural' is a made-up nonsense word.

I thought this was common knowledge? Democrats don't even bother with evidence or facts or proof or experimentation, they pick they think of ideology and only agree with other people who agree with them and because of that are much more likely to reject any opinion which might go against their beliefs. I suppose this is the reason Democrats are thick as pig shit.

Does it mean, if you don’t understand something, and the community of physicists don’t understand it, that means God did it? Is that how you want to play this game? Because if it is, here’s a list of things in the past that the physicists at the time didn’t understand [and now we do understand] [...]. If that’s how you want to invoke your evidence for God, then God is an ever-receding pocket of scientific ignorance that’s getting smaller and smaller and smaller as time moves on - so just be ready for that to happen, if that’s how you want to come at the problem.

Except that, for me, it seems to get bigger and bigger as time goes on. The more you know, the more you know that you don't know nearly as much as you thought you knew.

The inherent problem in defining something as either "natural" or "supernatural" is that we have not yet grasped the limits of nature. Before Newtonian Law, there was much we did not understand about nature. Before quantum mechanics, there was even MORE we did not understand. As we expand the boundaries of the "natural" world, we erode the boundaries of the "supernatural" world.

Natural simply means that which we understand to be bound by law. But what if we don't have the whole scope of the law? Well, therein lies religion.

Indeed. Me also. I respect religion though as a unity-building exercise that is generally good for societal cohesion, and for instance think that the precepts, if not beneficial in themselves, do force you to adopt a certain level of self-control if followed, and thus can help you out anyway.

That being said I do somewhat look down on people who as adults believe ardently in what essentially are children's tales.

Atheism has become a lot like feminism. I am what I call a dictionary atheist. I lack a belief in a higher power. (not believing that something exists is not the same thing as believing something doesn't exist.)

However, the atheist label has become a lot like the feminist label. Sure, the dictionary definitions are reasonable. But the labels have become weighted and I don't identify as either. I just call myself a nonbeliever.

tl;dr Some atheists lack a belief in any god but don't insist that a god definitely doesn't exist. Other atheists lack a belief in any god but do insist that a god definitely doesn't exist. The latter ones ruin it for everyone.

I was always a passive christian. Brought up on it and went to youth groups to hang out with mates, not for the jesus stuff.

I found reddit etc when i was 17 because of the robert bowling AMA. From there, it took about 6 months until i got onto /r/atheism. This was 2010.

It took me until about 6 months ago - i'm 23 now - to move on from miltant athiesm to "it's a necessary glue for communities" and "god said those things because they are moral, they aren't moral because god said them"

I'm now content with my level of theism. Don't believe in a god and creationism, but like the moral compass, sense of community and stories that come along with it.

It also give people something to believe in to fight against kebabs and jews.

Human religion is by definition anthropocentric (with maybe a couple exceptions,) and I don't believe the world is anthropocentric.

For instance, in Christianity, Islam, Judaism you have Humans as being made in God's image. If there is an almighty Creator who shaped the world and forged the universe in the fires of creation do you really think he is an upright monkey like us? That's completely retarded - humans are small, perishable simians, if the highest ruler of this universe has the anatomy and thinking capacity of an ape then we're all fucked

About 24.
I still don't believe but I keep it to myself and I see that religion as utility and is functions as a great social binding tool.
We need to strength Christianity in the West and make it more protectionist and aggressive in order to face the Islamic threat.

We're not going to win the coming war by taking the secular moral high ground and talking about logical fallacies.

It's going to need some serious DEUS VULT
