As for dogs, because Muslims pray at home 5 times a day, they don't allow dogs inside the home. Just like no dogs allowed in Churches/Chapels, Mosques etc. But you are allowed to keep dogs for guards. Thats why in Muslim countires you see Muslim homes with big guard dogs. The owners love them and take good care of them, but they just sit outside and guard their owners. I know lots of white Christian people that have dogs for guarding and keep them outside.
