Seriously what the fuck?

How do a bunch of Soldiers with massive military power, tanks, jets, and battleships get BTFO in just a few hours?

Top fucking kek.

Turkey has the worst military ever.

A bunch of Soldiers get BTFO by some police and civilian roaches.

Absolutely insane.
>>
Sending in riots against armed forces is like fighting a girl.

You fight back, you lose
>>
Statistics/Sources/Information on military capability of the armies all over the world are highly exaggerated.

This includes the US.

It was only a small part of the military that was involved...

lots of the old guard were already purged years ago and replaced with loyal lackeys of erdogan

They weren't very many. Only a small part of the army participated. They were relying on people to join in and for the rest of the military to fall in line with them but it didn't happen. The vast majority of the military remained loyal

False flag by Erdogan to justify a crackdown on his opponents.

You really think a couple of ragtag Colonels are going to try to overthrow the government with literally fewer than 1000 men? no chance.

Erdogan orchestrated it, he had people on the streets ready to go in a show of "support" for his leadership.

Today he will crack down on all his opponents who no doubt will be linked to this alleged coup.

On topic: remember that there are international cross-country training programs and outreach for militaries and special forces. Turkey is going to get mad fun of for YEARS over this incident. Far too few soldiers, simple mistakes made, Erdogan was in the air openly broadcasting his location while the coup had multiple jets in the air at the same time.

Also as soon as Erdogan was on the ground suddenly lots of officers are being arrested. Officers that had no connection to the coup. He's begun the purge he always WANTED to do but never could.

>you can't kill civilians
>it's okay to let a few civilains completely shut down your military
>you have to respect human rights no matter what

none of these things are true, pol. take this as a learning experience. trying to be nice and civil will get you killed. it's weakness and it's stupid.

it's also not how real militaries operate. you *never* surrender to civilians or police. you only surrender to other military, who will treat you more appropriately.

additionally, you can shoot civilans, children, babies, etc. first you fire warning shots. then you attempt to use non-lethal force. then if escalation continues, you begin using lethal force to protect yourself and your platoon.

the coup fucked up hard, they weren't prepared to be real soldiers

>>
If you manage to encourage dissident factions to attempt action against you, then you have the ability to then destroy them.

If it is an inside job designed through subversion, then a general force indicator would have been available.

This then allows the government to purge the armed forces, of those that oppose them.

Therefore reducing the future risk of a military coup, by cleaning house.

Utilizing public support will also result in stronger positive feelings towards the establishment.

It makes Erdogan appear strong. His government survived a military coup and he managed to escape.

All the while him and his advisors, were positive that the coup would fail.

The parliamentary building was also hit, providing the opportunity to further clean house of any insurrectionists'.

The same can be said to the action taken further afield, regarding attacks on the television network and police stations(s)

Remove critical journalists, destroy any potential threats that may exist within the police force.

You only need one or so generals, who are actually loyalists to Erdogan, they can then orchestrate the plan (badly) and then 'hand' themselves in to police.

And now he can march home, pretending he defeated am armed coup while flying around in his private jet, begging people to take to the streets.

The chances of a future coup are all but gone, as any opposition has now been identified.

The army will also be aware that the Turkish public, have seemingly huge support for the establishment, putting off any sort of action against the government even further.

A coup cannot succeed without the capture of heads of state. You would think any generals would be aware of this.

Yet instead of waiting until they had a solid position and plan in place, they blocked roads and bridges while massing pointlessly, until they had to fire on civilians posing threats.

>>81281035
It's crazy, no?

When it first started I was pretty excited, but now I feel like I've been taken on a big ol' ruse cruise. What's the probability that this shit was staged? 50-50 at this point? The only other thing I can think of was that the part of the military who engaged in the coup had to act before they were completely ready. Like, there was a leak or something so they had no choice but to start. Otherwise, if this was indeed planned, the belligerents are fucking retarded.

this

>>
>>81274542

They never expected the civilian population to turn up, that was obviously not on the agenda, that's why they started surrendering. As a soldier, once you start killing the citizens you are trained to protect, it is a pretty dark road. That's why the president called everyone to the streets, he knew the military would hesitate on it.

This is not a false flag.

Erdogan was in his plane for hours and not just hiding somewhere. This is the best response if you have no information other than you know your country is being invaded or attacked. Him asking for civilian help is really telling. Most pro-Erdo are reporting outside Ankara because they know it is not safe.

This is not over yet. Coups even this small will not stop this quickly.

Erdogan's not stupid, he's not going to tell every soldier and even the janitor about his plan. His complicity is that he either knew and didn't stop it, or started a low intensity coup himself by manipulating people who already hate him.

People really underestimate the police.

The military requires logistics, requires money, fuel, coordination. If any of those are missing then it's just a bunch of fucks in their expensive equipment.

The police is always activated, always ready, and never stops operating unlike the military. Even if the US military was called to activate right now, it would take more than a few hours to get the entirety of it online.

So the police have a HUGE advantage compared to guys driving dry tanks around in circles until it runs out of gas because their fuel teams were probably not even awake when it happened.

They have been getting cleaned over the ages, and plans to purge the military were underway. The coup was badly organised for a reason, CIA was getting desperate and made a gamble, hoping to get the support of idealistic gezi college cucks

You implement a sphere of control through subversion.

Only one high ranking official needed to be in place, in order to pull those that are against the ruling government out into the light.

Complete the show and the fireworks, leave the armed forces idle, pretend to give yourself yo police, tell everyone to give up.

It isn't difficult to implement a plan when you have strategic control of the hierarchy.

Come on lad.
>>
>>81283264
Him being out of the country, unable to communicate with anyone and setting up a new provisional government amounts to the same thing, except it cant be spun into a hostage situation involving an elected leader. That and security would be more lax, since they always beef it up around leaders. Its actually a little safer to stage one while he was away.

When the cats away, the mice will play.

well the wierd thing, and i said this before is that the coup started around 22:00. and only 2-3 hours later we got a news headline saying that the 1st army general is against the coup.

so in these 2 hours there was lots of delibirations by the generals if it took them so long to go against the coup (2 hours is a huge time in this kind of shit)

what happened was that officers thought that by going to the streets they'd basically give an ultimatum to the generals who were open to the idea of a coup an opportunity to act on their side. in the 1960 it worked, becuase only 38 officers actually had command of soldiers, and the rest of the generals just acquiesced

Also this. I mean even Kilicdaroglu, leader of seculars, and even fucking Kurds, both despise Erdogan, they said it's a coup and needs to be dealt with immediately.

And kurds and Kilicdaroglu are not controlled opposition. They hate Erdogan so it would be really easy for them to just say - hey, it's all fake, or just call for people to support the military.
>>
Here's something to consider. Maybe this isn't a traditional false flag. Maybe it was meant to be an actual coup, but it slipped through through the cracks with some generals who feigned support and they just let it play out? It's possible that the military wasn't making drastic moves and were pretty much stymied because those involved were only meant to block off roads and take the initial momentum.

For the unimaginative, i'm talking some Braveheart Battle of Falkirk shit.

This is what I'm thinking actually. See >>81285220

There's a lot of issues with the timing of the Generals' responses to the coup. They were completely silent for a good 2 or 3 hours. And then they said "look we don't support the coup". Then SHTF and we saw f16s fighting helis. but before that it was really up in the air.

I think a general was supposed to support them, but he backed out.

Police has transportation, logistics, and money. Guys running around on the streets in their big empty tanks without crews and without ammo do not.

Police had time, and they knew it. The only reason the military would ever stop is because they ran out of gas/places to go where the police weren't.

this 100%. i think the logistics part is very important, because from what it looks like, the coup guys expected far more support whch probably says that it was supposed to be much bigger. but someone backed out and a tank is basically a huge tin can if you don't have the fuel, ammo resupply or the ability to service it

It makes sense. I don't know why he would back out, there's everything to gain from it. I think someone else was supposed to jump and/or loyalist forces, and it just didn't happen.
>>
Next happening, US or EU taking bets.

So it wasn't the entire military, just a few brave kemalists?

Also, do they count military casualties in the death toll? What will happen to captured soldiers? What's the penalty for treason in Turkey?
>>
>>81283984
Well if safely captured and not killed by crowd, they can't legally be sentenced to death 'cause capital sentence has been banned for all sort of crimes and for military courts, too since about ten years ago, if I remember correctly
Of course "accidents" may happen, but Erdogan can't use those soldiers as public example so I wouldn't see the point of killing the regular Joes off, thought maybe you could make some of the generals "disappear"
>>
>>81286457
there was definitely something behind the scenes we don't know. or else so few soldiers wouldn't have done this if they knew that they would get 0 support. we'll have to wait and see
>>
>>81286661
So far, the penalty seems to be an execution via hanging from bridges.

>>81274542

This wasn't a coup by the army. A bunch of "colonels" who have no doubt been exfiltrated by now through the back door have lead a bunch of conscripts (barely a few thousands) with the order to "restore democracy"

Now Erdogan has the perfect carte blanche to PURGE the military and fill it with AKP supporters. And once this is done, he will have full power in the country

Why do this ? Military would have ACTUALLY risen up if Erdogan voted himself to full powers. So Erdogan gave himself an excuse to purge the leadership and try to drag serious contenders for a coup while at it

Now just wait until he drags his political opponents in the dirt. Gullen has nothing to do with this and was already accused. Soon the Kurds will be linked, and then Erdogan will really "purge"
