In I think 1999 I went to Britain and France as part of a high school French class trip (didn't want to take foreign language in college, not too many options). Britain didn't really have anything to do with it, but they figured we ought to see both since we were across the Atlantic anyway. France was still on the frank back then and I think I still have a few bills.
We only really went to London, Paris, and Nice tourist traps and a few outlying areas. Nonetheless, London was very nice and historical. We say Canterbury Cathedral too. Paris was a lot more of a tourist trap than London and was really rather dirty. The Parisians were also much bigger assholes and attempted to routinely rip us off. I don't honestly remember a lot about Nice. There was not a Muslim in sight anywhere. I remember someone brought a novelty cigarette lighter home that was shaped like a revolver and showed it at the airline and was like "hey can I carry this on?" and the airport employee pointed it as his companions head and pulled the trigger while going "Ha ha, look a lighter!" and then gave it back.
