Cops have to be able to make split second decisions. But now they are being trained to not make the decision at all, to just shoot before the suspect has had a chance to comply. This I don't agree with. There have been cases where a suspect has gotten a shot off after the cop believed he was neutralized. In one famous case caught on dash cam video, the cop died seconds later because a 22 severed his aorta.

That is correct. You omitted a particular detail though that significantly changes the legal meaning of that statement.
You can run from the police at any time an officer has not ordered you to comply with their instructions. So if you see an officer in line at a store, you're free to run away from him like the chickenshit you are. Though if he sees you doing this he may become suspicious of your behavior and that could end up with him chasing you at which point you're to comply with his orders for sperging out. A simple explanation after he has detained you for a quick 5 minutes that you're just afraid of an officer will have him laugh at you and telling you to fuck off for being a pussy.

There is no reason to not agree with it. You're going up to them with the gun still aimed on them. In order for the person to get a shot off they must have and aimed a gun at an officer. If that begins to happen the officer, who already has their gun aimed on the person, can shoot first. The officer actions in these cases you mention cannot possibly be like the actions described in the post you quoted, otherwise the suspect would have been shot.

Military personnel and firefighters seem to get this, that while they are trained to maximize their safety their duty comes FIRST. Firefighters will move into a building aggressively to save a person where otherwise they would stand off and spray the building down. Moving in drastically reduces their safety. They know it, their bosses know it, the citizens they serve know it. But that's the fucking job, so get your gear and move your fucking ass.
And don't cry "hurr durr no one would be a cop" because at their salaries and benefit levels there would be a line around the fucking block to apply. There are far more dangerous jobs with no better...even worse...payoff that have plenty of workers.
