Reductions in blood flow probably mean reduction in the activity in some parts of the brain, considering how some psychedelics allow one to look into the subconscious it would not be surprising that the blood might be used more elsewhere. Brain scans looking at blood flow often involve injecting a "highlighter" and then picking that up on the scanner. Can safely say as someone who's dosed almost every day for a month before that there's little to no physical side affects and certainly no lasting side affects from what I can tell.
