Trump needs to pick a candidate who aligns with his views on immigration and trade, and the best guy for that from what I see is Jeff Sessions. You also need someone who can debate very well. The debates are everything; they were a big deciding factor in the last presidential cycle. Romney kicked Obama's ass in the first debate and his poll numbers skyrocketed, but then when it came time for the VP debate, Ryan went full potato against Biden. The Romney/Ryan ticket could never recover from that point on. So in the end, he needs to stick with the smartest and most articulate person he can find, who aligns with his own values. He doesn't need to pick a woman or a minority to get more votes; people are beginning to see that as just a gimmick
