I have a problem with this line. It is not a "right" and it is not unlimited, i.e. to "order you around." Police have the authority to order you to comply with the law.

I've often wondered what would happen in this scenario:
* Police begin using excessive force on a citizen. (Not an edge case. Something clear cut. Think of the case where Fullerton CA PD beat a helpless homeless man to death.)
* Excessive force means the cops are committing felony battery.
* Most states give citizens the power/authority to use force to defend a fellow citizen from felony battery. Most states also give citizens the power of arrest over said felons.
* So a few citizens get behind cars with rifles in hand and order the cops to put their hands up because they are under arrest.
If a situation went down like that, and it was clear cut (i.e. cops had clearly chimped out and grossly violated the law), then IMHO the cops must submit to the arrest. If they "resist" with their own guns...which we all know they would...then the kills by citizens would be lawful and clean.
