The first is Marxism the second is cultural Marxism. Marxism is based largely on economics and it's a failed ideology and widely rejected. Cultural Marxism is the same premise but based on the notion of cultural equality not economic equality.
The main objective of both being to drag everyone down to the base level except of course that thin layer of elite who will oversee the whole thing.

The broad philosophies of Karl Marx taken and expanded to new, shitty realms.
Karl Marx had a decent economic theory of social classes in which he categorized people as wealth-creators and wealth-aggregators, and supposed that since wealth-aggregators did not generate any wealth of their own, that wealth-creators(laborers) were superior, and should be given full control of the wealth they generate, and redistribute the aggregated and held wealth amongst themselves.
This is an okay place to begin, as far as economic theory goes in the 19th century.
Marx then goes on to say that the only way that anyone can hope to overthrow wealth aggregators(since they aggregate wealth, and wealth is power), is for the laborers to cease production and demand, at first with disobedience, then with violence, change.
He then goes on about creating a classless society in which everyone works, everyone has a similar social class, and everyone splits the gains created since they are all doing labor of equal worth.
I give Marxism a pass, because Russia was still industrializing, and this is all ABSOLUTELY VALID for early industrial late/agricultural societies. It doesn't work on developed industrial societies or actual powerful global economies unless you adopt a huge bureaucracy which then falls apart. See: The Soviet Union.
The problem is that CULTURAL MARXISM takes this idea, but they then say that there are people with PRIVILEGE, and people who are OPPRESSED. And that they should enact violent revolution to REDISTRIBUTE the privilege(read: get revenge by oppressing people because their ancestors were once oppressors), in order to create some sort of utopia.
