The larger bear isn't the promise of life after death, it's the satisfaction of living the virtuous Christian life, the inner happiness it brings someone.
What atheists don't realize is religion has a place in society as an extension of culture. Remove that, and it creates a void, that becomes filled by marxism, sexual degeneracy, self-destructive subcultures (i.e ghetto, SJW, radical politics) as these people adopt a new God to turn to.
