A lot of people are voting for Trump because they can't stand Hillary, and a lot of people are voting for Hillary because they can't stand Trump. The former are more set in their decision, because they're afraid a Clinton presidency will ruin America. The latter are more malleable, as they recognize that Clinton is a disaster too, and just can't stomach the alternative of Trump. Thus, those individuals will leap for a third option if given the chance to vote for one.
Because Bernie supporters prefer Johnson to Clinton.
Before, Trump was giving some of them a reason to stay with Hillary, now Johnson is giving them a reason to throw their vote away.
Trump doesn't have that problem as much, since a lot of libertarians weren't voting for him already. Additionally, people that were voting for Cruz or Kasich much prefer Trump to Hillary or Johnson.
