Met several people with legit autism, not the worst kind on the spectrum. But yes even a severe autist, as in can't handle social interaction well at all and severe ocd-like behaviour is aware he has autism. The dude asked me to leave him alone for a moment politely because he couldn't handle that many people at once.
One of my friends has less severe autism and is a functional human but says some extremely awkward and socially inept remarks. He is fully aware of his own condition, but can't stop being socially awkward. He even had extensive socialization and coping training as a teen.
People with mental afflictions are usually aware of their conditions and how they are not normal as they get it explained to them. Acting on that knowledge and adapting day to day behaviour is a whole other story.

the biggest autistis cannot even think rationally.
So I doubt it.
There's a reason why there's separates for autists.
High-functioning and low-functioning.

not autistic, but I have borderline personality disorder. I realise I'm a bit psychotic/neurotic and overly emotional and volatile, but that doesn't make it any easier to act normal.
>>80637466
I have met people with borderline and I can say, FUCK YOU. However, knowing is a significant part of the fight and it's largely out of your control, so major props. Just give a disclaimer when meeting new people.

>I have met people with borderline and I can say, FUCK YOU
definitely appropriate, borderlines are not the best people ever. I drove my car into the shed of a guy I had crush on so I would have an excuse to spend time with him over the holidays, most borderlines have done shit like that or worse multiple times
>However, knowing is a significant part of the fight and it's largely out of your control, so major props
cheers, I'm going through a year long therapy program for borderlines and it seems to be helping. the bad part is they can't change how I feel, they just help me learn how to cope with it better than cutting or purging or acting out
>Just give a disclaimer when meeting new people.
This is a good way to scare people off. I generally hint at having some issues but blatantly stating them is a bit heavy handed. I do generally tell my boss whenever I get hired somewhere new though
