It is. Not taking care of yourself always is, but aside from some tax expenses, it's degeneracy that doesn't harm others too much.

I use to be obese but not morbidly. I'm 6' so a "healthy" weight is around 155 - 180 pounds I believe. I was 235 pounds at my worst. Now I'm 170 and I'm planning on cutting down some more.

I'm 29 and morbidly obese. I also work in healthcare, I'm a hospice RN. My only real health issue is chronic tachycardia, which makes sense. I get free panels done, CMP/CBC is always great. No problem with A1C or diabeetus. No hypertension.
I don't get to do all the fun things I would like to do. I would never go to a theme park or try to fly Southwest. We still go out on dates to the movies, we go bowling etc. If I take my wife to a restaurant she knows I want a table. We take a float trip every year and camp out for a week.
On the whole, I would say that it hasn't influenced my life greatly. I don't have any of these other problems I notice with fat people. I can tie my shoes and pick things up off the ground. I walk a little over 3 miles a day, I don't know if that's good or bad.
My wife cooks, so for instance tonight she made salmon (I don't like the skin), rice, and brussel sprouts. In the morning I'll eat another meal. It'll probably be pork steaks, some kind of starch, and a vegetable. I don't really exercise, which is why I don't lose weight. I'm 6'1 300-310 lbs.
