Well this is it, isn't it. To you guys, saying you're "Irish", "Italian" or whatever else means nothing. It's worn as a fashion statement basically, because people upon hearing it will accept it at face value.
Here, it's a bit different. Being "Irish" has a language, a dialect, a culture, sport and not least a nationality attached to it. It's something you live in as much as you are. It's not really defined by genetics or ancestry.
