There will not be an actual war because it would be am absolute loss for the Norks and because South Korea will then have to deal with millions of Northern refugees, wounded, defectors, etc. Which they do not want.
If for some reason hostilities ever do reignite, and the North invades the South, they will be pushed back to the 38th parallel and kept there.

It's not an impossibility, per se. It would just require YEARS of economic restructuring. A lot of people focus on the altruistic aspect of liberating the North but fail to acknowledge or realize the overwhelming behemoth of a burden that would be upon the South with this new mass of disenfranchised citizens.
