The police tried, but the conditions of that place in the pond made it hopeless in the timeframe.

Black lives matter. These girls didn't do a crime, and instead the cops didn't try to save them. I hate how cops are being rude to blacks, they might have done bad things before, but a lot of them try to move on. It is people like you that discourage them from being good again.

They actually went in ANYWAY, according to the sheriff.
Not sure how far they got, but they decided that conditions did not warrant going all the way. So they backed off. They even had a rescue dive team deputy on the scene and he waved everyone off. Too dangerous.
But they at least tried.

This is the thing. Did the police even know that these were 3 female teens in there? It could have been an angry buck negro with a knife or gun and hatred of cops as far as they knew. Another reason for prudence and caution, it would seem.
