What is the use of this party and why would people vote for them? I read somewhere that they do/did well among young voters, but I don't know why.
I would have said ukip without fail but now that Farage has stepped down I'll have to think about it. If Nuttal takes the helm they've got my vote. Wolfe isn't bad either despite /pol/ undeservedly putting him in the same category as Carswell and Evans.

They basically put all their eggs into the "FREE UNIVERSITY" meme, then formed a coalition government with the Conservative party and tripled university fees.
Next election they got something like 1/10th of the votes they had in the previous one.
Real shame because I feel the coalition government didn't really fuck up too badly.

Coalitions are rare in British politics and there is none at the moment, there is a Conservative party majority of 4 seats which is 330 out of 650 seats.

There isn't one. It's a Conservative majority. Coalition is partnership between two or more different parties to band together and run the government in case a majority was not voted for (this happened in 2010). +Lib Dem was enough to give the Conservative leader premiership while Lib Dem leader was given deputy. Due to the relatively small amount of MPs the Lib Dems had it was a very one sided coalition.
