This really isn't a joke. My father was triggered into an attack last year. I came home early from a New years party and found him laying on the floor hands over his head crying having pissed himself. The neighbors were shooting off fireworks and fire crackers all night.

PTSD isnt triggered by remembering a time you were in a fire fight.
It's caused by a certain noise, like repeated loud fireworks or firecrackers that trigger a flashback to an extremely traumatic time.
I had to go through leaps and bounds to find out what my father did during the war because my mother made it clear from a very early age that I was NEVER to talk about it or ask him anything. So i never did.
I ended up convincing my grandfather to tell me anything about it and he told me that during the war his squad was ambushed while sleeping and he was one of three people to survive the incident and was sent home.
Sometimes my father would just stare off at times and not talk, but it was normal to me growing up. I never saw him like what I saw on NYE last year.
