Why is it that assault rifles haven't been banned yet? Take the AR-15 as an example. It's name is LITERALLY Assault Rifle-15 and yet the NRA and its supporters still claim its not an assault weapon.
My grandfather served in World War II and my dad was a marine. So I know a few things about guns. That being said I also realize that the second mendment was written long before we had modern weapons. There is no reason for a nonmilitary or police citizen to own an assault riffle.
Soldiers and police are very highly trained to use such dangerous weapons. They are experts at doing so unlike almost all citizens.
Just as laws about free speech have changed with technology, so too should gun laws.

The "AR" in AR-15 doesn't stand for Assault Rifle. It's the first two letters of Armalite, the company that originally made it.

Gun laws have changed. Many restrictions have been put on the Second Amendment. This is why you can't go out and buy a brand new machine gun.
