I constantly hear that all manifestations of nationalism are bad, going as far as urging people to not wave national flags at events like the European Championship. Over here the Brexit is regarded as the British people sentencing themselves to death in exile. Is this just a German Nazi guilt tripping thing?

What the actual question is: Are you proud of the values and culture Germany currently has and how it contributes to the excellence of Germany? Then you are a patriot. I love the BRD up until 1990. Then everything slowed down and now we are about to throw a lot of stuff away that got us where we are.
Now: If you are a patriot, would you prefer if the interests of your country are put above the interests of others? Then you are a nationalist. And there is nothing wrong with it. It doesn't mean you hate other countries. If you like women, you don't hate men. If you like Germany, you don't hate Spain. You just love Germany.

German nationalism is certainly bad, because Germany is especially dangerous because of its size
I don't care much about latvian nationalism, czech nationalism or polish nationalism, but german, meh. German nationalism has accepted levels of violence that were not accepted by other nationalisms, except the ukrainian one
But in general nationalism has some bad ideas, like the idea of an absolute unification of people within a country, in german this was called Gleichschaltung. This is clearly an absurd
