I can really only rely most heavily on anecdotal evidence for this claim but many parents over here, when they hear a baby cry, their first thought is "Why is that damn kid bothering me again?" rather than "What does the baby need?". Both hypothetical parents are frustrated with the child's need for attention in the middle of the night but, in the first situation, the parent wants it to go away so they can get on with the other facets of their lives while, in the second situation, the parent wants to make sure their child is taken care of. The society of ME ME ME is very destructive towards children as they are seen as antagonists rather than things to be protected and nurtured so that they can grow, learn, and become productive members of society.

Hyperactivity (caused by kids acting like kids as well as by the foods they eat) is seen by many parents in America as the signs of an unruly child rather than a child who is acting normally and that may have a diet that encourages them to act slightly more hyperactive at times. These children do not have ADHD in any way, shape, or form, but a doctor who receives monetary incentive from prescriptions and have parents in front of them who want their kids to "calm down so they can get on with their lives" will claim to see the signs of ADHD (even if there is nothing there or the slightest hint of one sign) and prescribe the child a drug on the spot instead of more extensively studying the child or seeking a second opinion. Not here in burger land. Women in any form of stem (except maybe medical science) are 100% useless. I work with a bunch of people at an engineering firm and they are all students(including myself). We have 5 women in my department and all but one are completely useless. And the one who isn't useless actually is in a management position and doesn't set as much as a finger on the designs. For example, we work with high test peroxide so a lot of our equipment has to be touched with gloves so that oils don't destroy the passivation layer.
