Recently, I've learned that during the early years of /pol/ (until Obama was inaugurated), it was actually quite left leaning in its politics before it became the extreme right wing board it has become today.
If that is true, do you think that /pol/ could end up becoming left wing again if Trump gets elected and either Tumblr or Reddit becomes the new home for what would then be old /pol/.
>>79680307
OG /pol/ poster here. I've been here since the day this board was created. It was never left wing. There were a lot more libertarians back then, but the redpill swallowed them all up.
you should've seen it on 9/11 everyone was celebrating and posting fight club memes
>>79680444
FPBP, btw nice trips.
>>79680499
/pol/ didn't even exist back then (4chan first became a thing in 2003).
Well under Trump I feel even lib cucks will realize that they were wrong and embrace the redpill. This place would just get a lot bigger.
On /b/, during the Bush presidency years, being 'anti-establishment' meant supporting gays, hating Bush, reading Marx, et cetera. But that's /b/, not /pol/
>>79680499
Pol Didn't exist on 9/11, Faggot.
>>79680307
been here since the era of /new/ I should say /pol/'s dominant ideology changes, as most folk just leave after 1-2 years of posting and newcomers bring new ideologies. For example, I remember the time libertarianism was taken very seriously, and statis was a regular insult,
/pol/ did shifted a bit to left post 2014 december rape, go look at cripple chan's /pol/ for the 12-13 feel. But it was always dominantly right wing.
4chan was leftist in its early era because it was mostly popular among upper to middle class suburban-urban kids who tended to be leftists themselves, as 4chinz became more popular it shifted into right.
But then again trends do change, . I would never believed /pol/ would mock libertarians few years ago.
The /new/ days, most of us were libertarians, we were never left wing.

>taking the bait
>>79680812
I knew it was bait, I was just trying to make sure you weren't being exceedingly stupid.
4chan and especially /pol/ have always been contrarian. So if Trump wins we all become normies and go along our lives but if Hillary wins we all stay here.
/pol/ didn't exist as /pol/ back then either.
>>79680307
You're full of shit /pol/ has hated niggers since it was /new/
>>79680730
I would never believed /pol/ would mock libertarians few years ago.

but yes 4chan generally was pretty leftist before obummer
We were never liberal by and large unless you mean in the classical sense
Most people were libertarian, there were no socialists
We believed Ron Paul would save us, the Stefan Molyneux transformation is basically /pol/ personified
4chan has always hated the jews and the niggers
>>79680307
You might have a point if Trump turns out to be Bush #3 and starts shilling for jewish interests, globalism, and eternal wars.
I think the worst thing Trump will do is start a federally centered TSA crackdown in all major hubs. He seems to be very pro police state.

>Recently, I've learned that during the early years of /pol/
nigger I have been on this site for almost 10 years. You are fucking retarded. It's more liberal NOW and has less cp.
>>79680307
You learned wrong faggot.
I was here since /new/ and twice it got shut down due to common sense right wing politics.
IGNORE THIS SHILL THREAD
AND COME LAUGH
>>79681064
I can still remember that faggot-jew moot pulling the plug on /new/ because it had essentially become stormfront 2.0.
We were never Leftist, you twit.
oh look another g-guys swear it w-was this way reddit migrants who lecture you on fourchan
>>79680307
4chan now operates on the (you) economy; the posts that garner the most (you)s will eventually become the dominating force on the board as others attempt to rectify their behavior to more profitable posting.
Rightwing shock politics is losing its value in the (you) economy on /pol/ and will be replaced by further political incorrectness, which for this board means leftwing political correctness.
I have been experimenting with theoretical and proof of concept shitposts on /pol/ for the last months and "unironic" leftwing politics have become increasingly effective at derailing threads and garnering (you)'s; I predict that by the end of the year /pol/ will be in a civil war between left and rightwing memes before the left eclipses the right and becomes the new norm.
>>79680307
>Recently, I've learned that during the early years of /pol/ (until Obama was inaugurated), it was actually quite left leaning in its politics
Nope. /pol/ didn't exist in 2008 (or earlier). It's predecessor, /n/, was nicknamed /Stormfront/ for obvious reasons. moot deleted it for obvious reasons. It existed from 2006 to 2008.
>>79681103
even that got "oh come on" response, regularly.
I said it then and saying it now, libertarianism was just a fad created due to 08 crisis, and conservatives who wanted to stop calling themselves one due to dubya fucking up their reputation, most """"libertarians""" were just good old social conservatives who pretended to be something they are not, now its back to normal
>>79680581
>Implying there wasn't a /pol/ on 3chan
Under a Trump Administration, /pol/ would become the equivalent of the NYT or WSJ
"organ of record"
Nazis followed us home from Hal raids and began to use 4chan to propagandize to children long before /pol/ was around, years before.
The previous incarnation of /pol/ was shut down due to the WN spam, /pol/ came about when a satellite chan pissed moot off too much by spamming us with advertisements, so /pol/ was born, to fuck with its owner STI by drawing his traffic back here.
/pol/ itself has never not been an outlet for WN propaganda.
4chan itself and /n/ were not adherents of any specific ideology at all for quite a long time.
But that was long before most of the people on /pol/ got here.
>>79680307
right wing will always be a thing here cause the average 4chan user is full of self-hatred. so they will claim to be ~conservative~ whilst supporting media from japan and fapping to dickgirl cartoons

>a fucking leaf

>extreme right wing board it has become today
no you faggot it's a truth and facts board. And the left is nothing but lies.
>>79680307
You heard lies. It was super right wing, for a while.
Not a chance this place will change that much.
>>79680730
>4chan was leftist in its early era because it was mostly popular among upper to middle class suburban-urban kids who tended to be leftists themselves, as 4chinz became more popular it shifted into right
People never take into account that those kids still browse here. Meaning they got older and therefore more conservative. So I doubt 4chan swung right because it got popular.
4chan swung right because we grew up.
You can only see the Mondragon corporation brought up as a successful example of worker cooperatives so many times before you start to ask yourself, "if worker cooperatives are so awesome, why is it that people only bring up the same single example over and over again?"
>>79681845
does brazil even have electricity how are you replying to me?
/pol/ has always been right.
4chan as a whole is still pretty liberal. Go to the largest boards and it is obvious. /pol/, /k/ and /int/ are the really hard leaning boards.
/tv/, /v/ and especially /b/ are still super left
>>79682306
Pick up a book
>>79683255
Banana nigger is mad cause the leaf hit the fucking nail on the head. Top kek
/pol/ will swing leftish when the police state and surveillance expands under the new wave of nationalism. The contrarian flux when those in power go too far or fuck up is enabled by the anonymity of chan boards.
>>79680307
been here since it used to be called /news/ and it has NEVER been liberal, just kids learning how to be edgy on the interwebs
It will always be right wing because that is ultimately where absolute truth lies in terms of evolution of a society to it's fittest form
>>79680307
The same happened to Yahoo. Back during the Bush years, it was mostly liberals saying how much Bush sucked in the Yahoo message boards and comments. Now it's mostly Republicans shitting on Obama and liberals.
