Younger people (and some older now...) seem to have forgotten how decisions have consequences and what it means to fight for something in this age of "everyone gets the same trophy just for playing". It is an artificial system set up in the past years so that no one "loses" and even if they unavoidably do, it isn't their fault.
The time to vote for Brexit has passed, and like in real life, there were winners and losers. They idea that they lost the vote and are now whining like children about it because it didn't go their way is disgusting but unsurprising.

The reason that younger people lent toward Remain is simple. They've had it forced into them from an early age that the EU and Europe are one and the same. They've never been educated on what the EU actually is. I'm on the academic staff at a large Russell Group university and, having looked at undergraduate essays written on the European Union, I'm not sure even the ones studying it understand how to differentiate between the two either.
They can write an argument as to why they think "staying in Europe" is a good idea, but they can't actually tell you what the EU is. How can that possibly be a good thing?

The EU is the reason we don't have things like slavery, racism, child poverty and lead paint. Only the EU can fund scientific research or put people into space. The EU is the only thing stopping the evil Tories from deporting the NHS.
I'm not exaggerating here, that is the prevailing view with voters under the age of 25. Some older voters might have believed staying in was the right path, but they largely conceded that the EU itself was in drastic need of reform.
