She might not of, the majority of mainstream media in the UK are all pushing the idea that Brexit is the biggest mistake the UK has ever made and that all the people who voted out regret it or are old racists. Even the Guardian published an article explicitly saying that we should completely ignore the result of the referendum and that we should remain in the EU because the win difference wasn't large enough and some of the leave voters regret it, despite the same media corporations being responsible for them feeling regret due to the pro remain propaganda. There was even a protest by remain campaigners in London that we should ignore the vote and remain in the EU. So because of the mainstream media pushing this idea that it's ok to ignore the democratic vote, and we haven't triggered article 50, it's actually looking like there is a possibility the vote may be ignored entirely, Theresa May, potentially the next PM even said that we can't halt immigration, we still need to allow the same amount of immigrants in the country. The establishment is working hard to make it socially acceptable to ignore democracy. This could trigger civil war in the UK.
