Fourth for glorious Leadsom, killer of remainers.
>>
>Today lots of people — me included — are suggesting there should be a second vote on this whole Europe business, but we’re told by people in suits that this is not possible. And when we ask why, they say: “Because you just can’t.”

>Why not? Where in the constitution does it say we must abide by the result of a plebiscite, no matter how moronic that result might be? It doesn’t say that. It doesn’t say anything in fact because we don’t really have a constitution in Britain. So we can do what happens to be sensible at any given moment. And what is sensible now surely is to hold a vote when everyone is equipped with the most powerful tool in the box: hindsight.

>Of course this would infuriate millions of idiotic north of England coffin-dodgers who are prepared to bankrupt the country simply because they don’t want to live next door to a “darkie”. Many will write angry letters full of capital letters and underlining to their local newspapers. And there will be lots of discontent in various bingo halls, but who cares? They’ll all be dead soon anyway.

Yes we'd probably have to continue contributing to the EU budget. The only pros we'd get, assuming they allow it, is quotas over EU migration and the ability to make trade deals elsewhere.

Honestly I'd rather just stay with what we have now than that.

That's bullshit. The EEA excludes the member country from virtually all important areas of lawmaking. Norway adopts a tenth of the laws that the EU adopt, Norway pays far less money into the EU budget than most member states (and most of that is optional for Frontex membership etc.) and Norway has the ability to negotiate their own trade deals whenever they want or need to. They are able to regulate their banks by no EU interference, they can decide their own subsidy policies etc.

The only real concession that Norway has made to be part of the EEA is to accept the free movement of people. Iceland still has restrictions on Croatia due to their recent accession to the EU, so that too is negotiable in part, and there is no doubt in my mind that European industry would push the political class to accept the EEA without free movement.

Even if the UK has to accept the free movement of workers, the EEA would be a far more preferable deal than full membership of the EU.

One observation I have made during the recent political chaos is this:

Whenever a politician goes quiet the media have free reign to spin up negative stories uncontested.

But as soon as the politican gives a speech, confidence is restored somewhat and the media are on the back foot.

Examples: BORIS fucking Johnson went to ground and his leadership hopes were buried with him. Corbyn getting BTFO by his own shadow cabinet. Gove getting martyred by the media for his backstabfest.

In all cases the public opinion crashes without exposure but reassurance is almost instantly gained by getting on the telly and making a speech.

tl;dr Politicians need to manipulate the headlines or the headlines will manipulate them
>>
>Brighton Hotel Bombing
>At about 4:00 a.m., as Thatcher left the police station, she gave an impromptu interview to the BBC's John Cole, saying that the conference would go on as usual. Alistair McAlpine persuaded Marks & Spencer to open early at 8:00 a.m. so those who had lost their clothes in the bombing could purchase replacements. Thatcher went from the conference to visit the injured at the Royal Sussex County Hospital

>abide by all the regulations without having any say in how they're shaped

Not true. Norway is only required to adopt legislation which is related to the common market and Norway has a say in this. There is cooperation between EFTA and the EU to make sure that there are no objections in the EEA countries either. All areas of legislation and directives that the EU adopts annually which are not related to the single market is optional unlike when you are a full EU member. This accounts for 90% of EU lawmaking.

>European courts supreme over British courts

Bullshit. That only applies in cases of consumer rights, employment rights etc. because these are single market policies.

Sabotages Remain by shilling for leave. Literally whole PLP rebels against him because of this. Just does not give two fucks because he knows the party membership will just overwhelmingly reelect him if there's a leadership contest. Great blairite purge commences. They can't do anything about it because Chilcot report comes out next week. Quality bants had by all (except fackin blairites).

Corbyn is a hardline socialist and is gradually bending Labour to fit his politics. Blairites and centrists within the party are terrified of this and are trying to oust him on the flimsy excuse that the brexit was his fault. He has huge support amongst the Labour voters and is not leaving or resigning. JK Rowling is butthurt because she'll be put in a Gulag for being rich when Jeremy gets into power.

2015
>ed milliband loses election, resigns and Labour party hold leadership election
>any MP with 35 nominations from other MPs can get onto ballot
>very few MPs support corbyn but he barely manages to get the required nominations because some MPs want to 'widen the debate'
>he's a massive lefty open borders socialist cuck
>wins a landslide in the vote of labour party members (~250k votes)

2016:
>labour MPs still don't support corbyn but are grudgingly serving in his shadow cabinet but rooting against him
>all but 10 Labour MPs support remain side in referendum so corbyn is harangued into campaigning for remain despite being a eurosceptic
>gives a lacklustre performance when he can be bothered to campaign
>remain loses in referendum
>labour MPs use this as the excuse to start the coup they always wanted
>almost all of the shadow cabinet resigns, hoping to force corbyn to step down
>if corbyn steps down there would be no contest so he wouldn't be able to win on the member's votes again
>corbyn refuses, appoints literal whos to the shadow cabinet
>MPs hold a vote of no confidence and 80% vote for it but it has no legal binding
>only way to get rid of him is to challenge but they know that in an election the party members will vote for corbyn so the party is stuck in deadlock where corbyn won't resign but the MPs won't serve in his cabinet

Most of which is optional. Science collaboration, Frontex, student exchange programmes etc. are things Norway pay into the EU budget for and it's optional. The EEA itself is a minority of Norwegian expenses into the EU budget.

>>79607349

I'm not saying the UK should join the EEA and be stuck there forever you fucking retard. I'm stating that right now the UK has two years to negotiate and it needs an agreement in place fast. The EEA is an excellent transitory agreement, which can be revisited in 5 years and reformed to scrap the free movement of people.

I would not advocate the EEA to be used as a permanent agreement.

I would love to see an agreement between Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and the UK to scrap the free movement of people.

I don't buy it lads

Gove campaigned for Brexit, in the shadow of Boris. He wasn't doing it out of political glory. The recent turn of events came about because of Boris inherent ineptitude to deal with the task of PM

Gove may have been a Blair supporter years ago but so were the majority of MP's and the voting public. What's more important is that he is genuinely Brexit and actually has a chance of becoming PM

Leadsom has no chance of becoming PM. She was openly AGAINST Brexit only a few years ago. /pol/ needs to swallow this bitter pill.

Theresa May is pro-Remain and the current favourite for PM. Our only chance of chellenging her is to unite behine a SINGLE pro-Leave candidate who MUST BE GOVE

Leadsom is only splitting the Leave voters futher. Watering down the thin gruel of positive support for Leaving

P.S. Mogg supports Gove

I suspect, deep down, this is true as it was with the Militant Tendency (now the Socialist Party) who he often appeared on platforms with back in the day. Other trots would hilariously accuse Militant of being "workerist" as they refused to give any support to PLO, IRA etc but instead always advocated a class solution.

The leave camp isn't the government, it's up to the government to implement the decision.
Do you not understand parliamentary democracy?
People in the leave campaign don't suddenly become members of the house of commons just because they were on the winning side of a referendum.
