I have an Electrical Engineering degree and work for a tech company. First job was in engineering, next job was as Technical Service Manager, then went into sales, then sales management, then Operations management.
Engineers who are introverts will make a living but not much more. Engineers who are extroverts, confident, and can communicate have a very high ceiling.
Masters degrees are usually only attractive to government contractors or for worker bee engineers. It is much more lucrative to gain experience within the company and learn how every department works and network with other department heads.

What happens when more than half the population has degrees in medicine, law, and engineering? Your degree immediately becomes significantly more worthless, and no amount of extra training can suddenly make it worth more. They aren't going to tackle on fake knowledge to try to make it worth more. If they do, it'll turn into another scam itself.
That's the reason they push you to get a bunch of worthless degrees, so they can keep the STEM ones still semi-more "higher earning" degrees. So in essence they've perpetuated a mass scam to keep things the way they are still in motion to an extent.

I knew a retired officer a few years ago. He said becoming a corrections officer is a good way to get your foot in the door. Helps you build the skills you'll need and it's lower stakes. Another option if you're on the border is border patrol. It's more of a /sci/ thing to rag on engineers who boast about being an engineer but I can see why lots of Indians (and a lot of Asians do it as well) become engineers: there's only really money in eng/med, and when it comes down to it I'm sure almost every person in India/Asia/etc would rather be able to provide for themselves and their family than be on the bleeding edge of theoretical and practically useless mathematics.
I was more referring to any engineer in America, where you can do most things out of uni in STEM and make more than enough.
I (obviously) had the chance to go to almost any top uni in Canada and the States for EE, Aerospace, mech eng, and Chem engineering. I chose math because I realized at the end of the day I wouldn't be learning anything new, as in I would be learning math and concepts that almost every other engineer knew. I wouldn't ever create a new concept. New tech being developed is "new" I guess sure, but it's nothing comparable to new theories in physics and math which literally can come out of nowhere.

Literally for fun I approached the engineering teachers and wrote a past EI exam (exam all engineers must pass to get their bachelors, it includes something from every field) and I basically aced it. Granted I had been studying engineering concepts for the past few years on my own time buying books and such so I'm a bit of an exception but unanimously math majors are superior to engineers in theoretical and logical problems.

Corrections is fucking tough though especially if you are like me 6 foot and 170 pounds. A professor of mine was a county prison director and is known in the area, might chat him up soon. He liked having me in class as he was 60 something and couldn't work the computer so I volunteered and helped him out often.
He also took us on a trip to this one state prison which the director told us all of his officers get punched 10 times in the face (no defending yourself) before the training even starts because you need to take a punch when you are a prison guard.
