The thing is, deep inside the core belief of communist states is still the human aspect of national identity beneath a facade of "workers of the world blah blah" that the ideology speaks of. USSR was the Russian Empire, DPRK is a Korean Dynasty, and PRoC is a Chinese Dynasty. They all believe they were the superior ones and the nations they occupied were just their colonies. Same goes for theological states such as Iran. Spreading the Islamic Revolution is also mixed with spreading Persian influence and dominating the Middle East from the Arabs.
