German history lessons focus about 90% on WWII. Merkel has stated that she will not step down. She is claiming that this mess with the Brexit is her biggest task yet and it would be absurd to turn her back on it. She will be heading up the CDU campaign. This is good for us. People are not happy with her because of this immigrant crisis (although we are refrained from calling it a crisis because apparently it is not a problem). This means CDU popularity will go down.
People are reluctant to vote SPD. They share similar values and because of the coalition with CDU previously, people don't trust them as a good alternative. This is the problem. These two parties dominate the votes, just like conservatives and labour in Britain. Other smaller parties don't get enough traction. Some will vote for them, but it will only decrease the CDU and SPD numbers, but the ration will still be in a winning position.
AFD is creeping up. Just like the leave vote on Brexit, it is something that many people will vote for, but not openly admit, so it is hard to tell.
It is probably too late for a change before the next general election unless there are some high publicity happenings.

My University spent fucking ages drilling into us that we were supposed to be self-educating there anyway, the function of a degree is just to be certificate proof that you've educated yourself to a certain standard
