Obviously it was mostly encouraged during the times of Romanticism

But is this a manifestation of a demonic side of a human being?

Why people come up with vampires, Krakens, zombies etc.? Is this nihilism and evil? Do people just want to express their pointless, disorderly ideas and all variety of emotions?

Look at the Germans - during Romanticism they came up with a lot of stupid ideas and stories, and how did they end up? Are the Germans the most demonic people in Europe?

no wonder youre still a 3rd world shithole

Because always writing true stories about niggers would make people too used to them.

>what is this imagination?
But what's the point of sharing your imagination with others, when the products of it don't exist in reality?
>>
>>79504986
But they do exist. All of it.
>>
Because people didn't have science back in the day so they explained away shit with magic.

Also people would tell their kids stories about monsters so they wouldn't play in the woods and shit by themselves.

It's not hard to figure out you third world autist.

You're a very narrow minded individual.

> But what's the point of sharing your imagination with others, when the products of it don't exist in reality?

It's just a form of art.
>>
>>79504662

Our reality exists inside the minds of mythical monsters and demons. Our tales and dreams about them are just glimpses into the real-reality that manage to slip through.

But those stories emerged a lot in the XIXth century, the age after the Enlightenment and the "age of science". Educated people like Walter Scott were writing about mysterious phenomena

Even today people constantly create works of art that relate to imaginary creatures, so your arguments like "but muh science" are worthy of a fake, seasonal nation

Monsters and demonic entities embody the fears of a people

Undead (dead children, improperly buried, deceased degenerates)

Wild man eating beasts

Cosmic horror (an outgrowth from romantic horror, after the light of science cleared the dark forests, creaky houses, abandoned castles, and graveyards of things which go bump in the night we discovered fear among the immense and apathetic cosmos beyond our understanding)

Ever notice how many Japanese monsters are simply rude and dirty?

How the hauntings of African demons resemble tropical diseases?

Quality post.

Do you remember the sky noise a few years ago? And how it ended up being retarded faggots playing the pre-recorded noise from cloverfield on computers and iphones in the background?

People do it for attention, or because real life is boring.

I actually read alot about cryptozoology and the occult. People have similar experiences with certain things, but I gotta say 99.9% of stuff is just people having fun or schizos.

I will tell you a secret, people never grow up, they just get tired and jaded. That's why they enjoy spooky stories.
>>
>>79505939
>Monsters and demonic entities embody the fears of a people
But why don't people express those fears through something that actually exists? Like animals or plants? What's the point of sharing with other people with imaginary entities?
>>
>>79506368
That's humanity

Why do heroes resemble everything a culture sees as noble & righteous? Why do the gods always seem to behave like tribal germans? Or ancient sumerians? Or 15th century nahua?

If horses had gods they'd seem like horses, if horses had monsters they'd look like canines and felines and that weird thing standing RIGHT behind them they just know it

People always populate the darkness with things they can more easily understand, and create heroes to reaffirm their own culture

Don't worry son, that's just Zeus smiting evildoers in our rival city

If we want to end this village epidemic we have to dig up all the victims and drive stakes in their hearts to keep them from coming back

Sounds better than "I don't know"

Christians ask themselves what Jesus would do, Buddhists ask what Siddartha would do, Hindus ask what Rama would do, Greeks pondered what Heracles would do, and communists ask what Marx would do

People throw "autism" around as an insult a lot on 4chan, but you should honestly see a doctor if you truly believe this. Something is fucking wrong with your brain.

Read the rest of the thread then. My response was just to advise you to seek medical assistance for your condition.

Right, but noble and righteous entities I think resemble what actually exists. Unicorn - horse, heroes - humans. Meanwhile, what's demonic can go beyond that pattern

btw. I guess there's something nihilistic in Greek heroes as well, namely the cult of power, which was picked by both communists and national socialists

>Why people come up with vampires, Krakens, zombies etc.? Is this nihilism and evil? Do people just want to express their pointless, disorderly ideas and all variety of emotions?

It all stems from when we were a bunch of roaming primitives. People have this ingrained idea of the dark/night equating to terror. Which is why most children, and even some adults, feel a sense of fear when night comes along. Even when we're safe in our homes, and our biggest threat is a common house spider (exception being australia, their common house spider could kill you in a heartbeat), we still fear the dark. If you were some roaming monkey, 5000 years ago, you had best be wary of the night. Lots of predators there. No houses and guns to keep you safe.

You factor in our often overactive imaginations too, it's easy to see why people dream these things up. The true horrors of the night have long since passed.

>Why people come up with vampires, Krakens, zombies etc.? Is this nihilism and evil? Do people just want to express their pointless, disorderly ideas and all variety of emotions?

Why do people eat spicy foods, or go bungee jumping? We're a bunch of fools for the rush. Our life experiences are measured by their peaks and valleys. We're forever trying to determine what we are, and why we are here. Always attempting to answer those questions. Yet the best we can do is trick ourselves into an adrenaline rush, just to feel something.

But why don't people spread the idea of sanctity and examples of saints as often as the examples of demonic, scary and nihilist? Have you ever seen a history of a saint monster?
>>
>>79509019
Demonic beings and monsters are perversions of the natural order

Dead things stay dead, spiders aren't the size of elephants, and sex isn't supposed to suck out your soul

Monster comes from the latin monstrum generally referring to perversion of nature

Saint Augustine viewed monsters as category errors within the design of gods universe
>>
>>79509143
Humans have an instinctive fear of snakes believe it or not

Even very young children can quickly detect a snake mixed in with similar looking objects and creatures

>>
>>79509431
Nigga what?

Like 50% of fiction is about heroic people punching monsters and badguys in the face
>>
>>79509431

It happens rarely. There are some horror movies that portray devout members of religion in a negative way. One of those movies is called The Conjuring.

It's also mostly due to saints and whatnot are associated with the light. You can see what's trying to kill you in plain sight when there's daylight.

It's why things like holy and truth are often considered to be kin to "the light". You hear the "light of truth" often in religious texts.

They're just as unlikely as Gods people believe in nowadays.

So you criticize mythical creatures on one hand but call them "demonic" on the other?
If you believe in demons you believe in what the same people who believed in all these creatures believed.
Vampires and especially zombies are all manifestations of the demonic.
And by the way, German romantics did not "come up with" mythical creatures, they compiled them, studied them, rationalized them (brothers Grimm).

Well I meant that the Germans seemed to be very much attracted by these stories. You can also see it in Faust

Because heroes are people who resist evil. They are examples to be followed in resisting the many manifestations of Satan. The wolf in Little Red Riding Hood for instance represents a man pushing for sex before marriage. LRRH herself represents, well, a girl, any girl, the girl to whom the story is destined to be read and understood.

Now I think you may be speaking about the contemporary interest for evil creatures, ghosts and goblins and the like. I can only say I agree that there's something sinister in the way evil/negativity is put on a pedestal. It's not just mythical creatures, its pirates, highwaymen, sex addicts, drug addicts, alcoholism, card games etc. Our popular culture is extremely nihilistic and I think we all know where that comes from...

Because this world is shit,it's just people trying to fuck over other people for self pleasure or shitty paper bills.

Know what sounds like a real good fucking time? Going on a quest with your brothers in arms to slay some giant, evil monster, plundering that niggers treasure and using the said treasures to raising a kingdom and having peasants call you 'Big Daddy' and then rescuing some cursed slut and taking her as your mistress.

How so?

Lord Ravana, Mebd, Siggeir, Pharaoh, Mordred, Tezcatlipoca, etc all had pretty realistic character

It was the romantic and nationalist era

Everybody was dying to dig up the legends of their nation

People were no longer satisfied with aping Greco-Roman & generic Christian lore anymore
