Is there really any difference between Spanish and Portuguese?

Spanish can sound nice depending on the dialect, while Portuguese sounds objectively retarded no matter what.

Depends on who you ask. Portugal is more uniform, it's an autoctonous iberian culture, like Castilians, Catalans, Basques, etc. Spain is more the union of many of those while Portugal is an entity that remained independent.

Depends, Portuguese from Portugal sounds really expressive same with Spanish from Spain. But Portuguese from Madeira is more straight forward. But I'm probably biased as I'm from Madeira.
