I read conflicting accounts. Reading between the lines...he didn't do such a bad job. It's simple fact that the entire state is ungovernable due to constitutional limits. Even Brown was languishing before Democrats got a super majority in the legislature. The Dems in Cali are so fucking left too.
His opponent, Grey Davis, who quit politics after losing, summed up the Arnie administration nicely. During a visit to the tonight show he said the following. Arnie drafted a solution to the CA financial crisis and put it to a vote of the people. The public unions had a tantrum because it cut some of their benefits and managed to convince 2/3rds of the people to vote against it. After that, there was nothing he could do to save the state.
The irony was that Brown was forced to make bigger cuts than Arnie originally proposed. Public unions are full of selfish retards that shoot themselves in the foot.

I've read that whenever California politicians talk about cops or teachers or anything involving the public sector then they're really talking about unions. Taxes and the cost of living are so high in most of Cali that it's amazing how the state is thriving as well as it is. I know people who used to want to move to Cali, but now talk about cities across the country, particularly in the mountain west or the south.
