I experienced a similar problem on my '86 MR2, overheated and basically huge waft of smoke emerged from the engine. When I opened the engine lid there was white milky shit near the coolant and cylinder heads. Pretty indicative that coolant mixed with the oil.
That was 3 months ago. Drove it fine all last week and the week before. I can't afford a mechanic to take a look at it
