Our slaughterhouses have to follow DEFRA guidelines. There are exceptions for Jews and Muslims unless kosher/halal abattoirs intend to sell the products to non-Muslims/Jews then stunning must occur
Halal/Kosher isn't the only problem in our meat industry. There's endless undercover stories of animal abuses in UK abattoirs, often pop up on PETA or national papers.
