It's arguable that deriving a trilogy of feature-length films from a puzzle game requires a great deal of creativity.
the reason why contemporary american film is creatively broke is literally because of globalism. more money can be made more reliably worldwide than domestic. China alone. which is why all mainstream films are watered down for that worldwide audience. China doesn't give a shit about nuance...it wouldn't land. we are living in a diversified creative field and if you want to keep enjoying movies you're going to have to lower your bar of quality.

In a way, it's a good thing. It means that the only people doing it will be the ones doing it for the love of the craft and not for the money. Which is why a lot of the best films nowadays are smaller/indie films.
