That's not any random online petition, it's a citizens' initiative. If/when it gets 50 000 names, our parliament will be forced to acknowledge it.

It's pretty certain they're not gonna give us a referendum, but like the other anon said, the main point is to voice disapproval to the government and the EU.

-Euro crises and sanctions against Russia have hurt us economically a lot, it's been bad for several years and there's no reason to expect things are getting better in the future
-Schengen has brought here gypsy beggars and thieves, and allowed us to become one of the main dumping grounds for muslim migrants
-For most of the time we've been in EU, we've been paying more than we get out of the union
-Brussels gives a sanctuary to our failed politicians. They fuck up the country and in return get a promotion to a better job abroad
-Our politicians always use EU as an excuse for all their awful decisions. Outside EU, they couldn't use that excuse anymore, and we could actually hold them accountable for their actions
-We joined Euro by the parliament's decision and without a referendum, even though the promise of Euro being optional was one of the reasons why Finland even joined EU in the first place

Brits made a risky decision, they didn't actually have things as bad as they could've. They were protected from the worst harm since they weren't part of Schengen or Euro, and most of their imported muslim issues are the Labour Party's fault rather than EU's. - But in Finland's case, I think there are big reasons to ask whether EU's impact on us has been beneficial.

You really seem to be retarded. YOU CAN DEMOCRATICALLY VOTE FOR THE PEOPLE WHO SIT IN THE PARLIAMENT.

THE PARLIAMENT ELECTS THE PRESIDENT.

THE PARLIAMENT CAN REMOVE THE PRESIDENT FROM POWER WITH A VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE.

That's how it works in all parliamentary democracies such as Germany, the UK, Austria, Australia, Japan, and many more.

That's cause you're a pussy.
Also, EU offers no protection against Russia, quite the opposite, there are tensions now with Russia because we have to adhere to EU's sanctions on Russia.

If we were scared of Russia, we'd join NATO, not EU
>>
>>79054746
>Now these are good reasons. But to be fair if I were finnish I'd be to scared of russians to ever leave the EU

Join NATO instead. Some of the same baggage as in EU, but far less than in EU and actual safety guarantees from partners that actually have firepower. EU in military terms halved in it's nuclear and force projection capabilities as UK went for Brexit.

When it comes to military capabilities, only country capable of doing major expeditionary missions is France. They are never going to help us with anything. Sweden has become non-entity when it comes to military. In most likely scenarios we would have to spread our forces into defending EU heart land as speed bump in Baltics... another near military vacuum called Germany.

UK based on NATO planning was willing to commit sizable part of their forces in Norway and US wasn't going to stand on their thumbs either. If Finland will join NATO it's pretty safe to assume Norwegians, Bongs and UK will prefer defense pushed forward.

We are going to be a battle ground. As neutral or just as EU member we are enemy of everyone in case of major war in Europe. During Cold War both commies and NATO were going to nuke us into oblivion, situation where only one side will do that is significant improvement.

This desu. In order to get the trade benefits of EU you need to take in their share of bureaucracy, there is no way around it. The biggest issues of EU are the role of comission and European Monetary Union being a thing.

>>
>>79045050
No, but if your government would coose to get a fucking divorce from all of this shit, what could the EU do? The only issue is here that we have a government who doesn't listen to it's citizens, gives a duck about Finland, independence or about anything and just wants to make sure that they make as much money as possible while they assrape us all. Also, the office they will be receaving in the EU comissio, after no one votes' em here, will be a bonus.

When it comes to common markets I can understand unionwide trade standardization. It's not like EU invented bureaucracy, we had and still have nitpicky rules on national scale and Fixit wouldn't ultimately change that.

The only fundamentally wrong thing Fixit could change is our EMU membership, which would stop our currency being constantly overvalued and the yearly tradition throwing money to Greece.

I don't know, maybe even pretend to have a backbone? It's one thing to not have the power to do something, but it's quite another to publicly shill for the exact opposite thing you got even those 37 seats for.

If people want things to change they must start voting for those small parties and make them big. For decades we have voted for the same three big parties and things are going worse and worse. Nothing is going to change if we don't start looking at new smaller parties. Suomidemokraatit aren't officially a party yet, so obviously they haven't done anything.

As I said on Ylilauta in a similar thread, I think Finland has taken a good approach for the issue for now. There is no point in rushing this kind of process before the pattern of execution has been discovered and "proof of concept" done.

As per the currency, I think Finland should depart from EUR and start using SEK. At least there should be a case study on the topic and the outcomes should be simulated and speculated on.

Yes, it does, but it also would grant better relations towards Russia, who is an important trade ally.

Never ever put your trust on Russia, but when you live next-door to the sleeping red giant, you have to balance life on the edge of a sword. Just recently we let U.S. troops train on our soil against Kreml's wishes, but this friday Putin is coming to visit the president over here, against EU sanctions (and the eternal swede's judgement).
I remember the newspapers writing about how both Putin and Obama congratulated Finland's president for keeping things chill a while ago, not many countries are able to do that - to please both the east and the west. It takes a fucking skilled politician to do that.
>>
>>79074954
It existed because Kekkonen was good strategist. Niinistö is good at Russia relations too because he can pander to Putin trolls and Russophobes at the same time. But don't trust Russkis anyway.
>>
>>79074488

Our relationships with Russia doesn't really have anything to do with EU. If anything, we'd be more at ease with them if we left.

RKP has never in its history had that many seats in the parliament, yet they manage to manipulate the bigger parties into doing their bidding anyway. They got their pakkoruotsi, and they've managed to keep it obligatory for several decades even though people have been criticizing the whole thing. With the count of seats PS had in this parliament, they should've had at least some leverage to use. But all that they seriously bothered to push for was Lex Soini.
We got scammed, it was just Soini's ego pumping project from the beginning, and we should've chosen another party to focus our votes on. Now it's too late.

>>79074424
I hope so. I feel upset about the way he tricked us into euro back in the past, but I think he has been a good and level-headed president.

>>79074488
Russia seems like a lesser threat to me right now than Brussels. For example, most of the migrants that got here last year came through all of Europe and our dear neighbor Sweden. Only a small minority of them got through Russia. After talking with our president, Putin promised to secure their side of the border. To my understanding they've kept doing so after that, even though we didn't have much to offer them in exchange for it.
The way Russia dealt with it makes me feel a lot less afraid of them than I was earlier. They could've weakened or pressured us with the migrants as hybrid warfare if they wanted to, but they didn't.
I just want friendly relations with Russia, and I'd be fine with balancing the way we did during the times of Soviet Union.

Rather not, we simply can't afford it we need them more than they need us. Besides most of our trade comes from exports to Germany and Sweden and with the UK leaving the European countries are looking a lot more favorably towards trade deals with Russia.

Besides it's a lot easier to damage the system from the inside than it's to throw temper tantrums from the outside. Besides we are pretty good at making noise, at least online.

Why is the Finnish "leave" petition so much better than the British remaincuck petition, which was pretty much just one sentence?
>>
>>79078581
I don't know how they store the data. When you vote you have to show your ID though your vote is a secret, since that's the law. The same law doesn't apply here. That's just how it is.
>>
>>79043182
the thing about this we need to more vocal about it

having petition alone wont be enough, there must be people demanding it and speaking sense why it must come to pass

and if they will still not allow it, then we can see how people start to hate politicans for not allowing direct democracy to happen
>>
>>79078882

>>
>>79043182
fUNLAND BELONGS TO ruSSIA
>>
>>79078967
Why couldn't they just change that law? By hashing some ID salted with the petition number you can ensure that no one votes twice while still being unable to identify that person. There's really no reason to do it this way if they at all care about the ideas behind secret ballots, and if they don't, why not make normal votes non-anonymous as well? Perhaps historically it made sense for petitions to have you identifiable as you literally signed it with your name, but with technology there is no longer any reason for that.

So is this due to laziness, malice or incompetence?
>>
>>79078882
>Why is the Finnish "leave" petition so much better than the British remaincuck petition, which was pretty much just one sentence?

It's not a secret ballot bro. If the petition goes through and is sent to the Väestörekisteri, it becomes public information and the petitioners names are published.

Petitioning is not a "secret" like voting is.
Again, if you want to change that, petition to the parliament. Personally I stand behind my opinions so I don't give a fuck.

Because while the rest of perussuomalaiset aren't worth shit(some of the worst cuckservatives I ever saw), Jussi is a fucking national treasure. Soini and his pals are a fucking disgrace, Hakkarainen and Halla-Aho are fucking gold.

Why are you investing in / with paper currency in this political climate? It's practically asking for this to happen.

Invest in precious metals and other commodities. Things that will still be more valuable than some note will if their value drops.

If you watched Halla-aho's videos from EU parliament you'd see he's still based. He's straight-forward and he also fought against the retarded gun laws. It's just that EU Commission is full of cucks who throw a tantrum and refuse to have a discussion with him.

I don't care myself just wondering why they do it this retarded way. I guess being retarded is just a tradition the Finnish government wants to keep alive.

and regardless that being true, the words are still been put out there. and it will affect people who vote and possibly, lead to another civil war as history seems to always repeat itself

>Reds use "Butcher" as an insult for the Whites
That's some Hillary-tier propaganda. Why the fuck would you call your enemies something that makes your own people shit their pants?

We need at least just more public discussion about EU's impact on us. How much we've gained from them over the years, how much we've lost, whether the overall impact has been good or bad.

Tynkkynen brought up leaving EU, and Väyrynen talked about abandoning Euro. I'd like to raise one more idea: demand renegotations of our membership with EU. UK had a pretty good membership deal; they opted out of Euro, Schengen and the migrant quotas. I think the former two have fucked us up the most, and IMO demanding renegotiations and opt-outs could help more than just attempting to leave EU altogether. Why was it okay for UK to have these deals, and why shouldn't we have them too?

Have either of you ever read his blog, Scripta? He's probably the most based politician we have. It's not just for publicity either, otherwise he wouldn't have dedicated such a large part of his life into writing it and fighting marxism. His blog was the thing that originally redpilled me. Jussi has done more for the Finnish people than any other living politician.

Getting any law change through the parliament requires a fair amount of persistence, I don't think the secrecy regarding the names of petitioners is on top of anyones to-do list, especially when noone is even asking for it.

Kek, polar nights depression is real. Finns grew up with it so we're kinda inoculated, but I wouldn't be surprised if some rapefugees did off themselves for not seeing the sun for months.

Nah, I'd rather see us sink with the ship.

I trust the European people more than I trust our politicians, they at least have the people to do proper protests and riots if the EU or the governments don't behave themselves. Just look at the TTIP protests and French riots, beautiful stuff that keeps even the elite on their toes.
