/pol/, what is your opinion of the development of artificial intelligence, be it government-controlled or otherwise?
Personally I think fully autonomous AI is way too dangerous to develop but it's right around the corner.
True AI is going to remain "just around the corner" for a VERY long time.
What I don't understand is why people believe Artificial Intelligence has to be manifested physically in the form of hardware and software.
AI is very much a form of thinking. A mode that all humans can access with their minds rather than an app that you can download.
We think we're trying to make AI, but AI is already here.

That's the whole point of general AI. It is to solve all the problems that we are currently facing. Whether it's finding a way to reconcile general relativity and quantum physics, engineering self-automated means of productions of every good possible, solving the Earth's political issues, find the secret of age-stopping/reversal, immortality... if it's physically possible within the laws of our universe, and if we don't fuck it up and get killed by it, general AI will be capable of figuring it out, and doing the work, for us

there was some stream of a guy playing an ai in some weird ass game. the ai crushed him. this wouldnt really be a big deal but this guy was the best in the world and the robot didnt just win. the robot calculated that it had won early in the game, it let the guy come back to make it look like he had a chance and then crushed him at the very end. the ai fucking toyed with him
